Should i overclock my computer then? Here are the specs :- Processor: Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 2048MB RAM Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS (512 mb) Is there anything else you need?
the inquirer says July 13th 9Pm Pacific standard time... http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=32849 note that the inquirer is reputeable for having information out before anyone else(even if it's wrong) though they are well knwon and generally respected. for the record, I am refreshing both newegg and Tiger direct and Monarch starting at 8:59 tonight...
what is the point. you just dont overclock it because someone tells you to, you obviously dont need to.
I agree with defuzion. with those spec you don't really need to overclock. or at least not yet. anyway, when booting your pc, their is a screen, where it says press F something for the menu thing. It differs with the mother board. In there you can overclock easily, but go up in small steps, don't forget to stress test after every bit, at least an hour. But really, with those specs.
This topic is sadly filled with like 8 noobs. All of these questions are easily answered by a google search. Notes: 1) When the first post says "Pentium D (Dual-Core)" and you ask if its Dual-Core, you should be flamed. 2) Just because it has two cores, does not mean that it operates tihngs at 8 Ghz. I hope you relize that. 3) Yes, you should overclock your Pentium D. They were made to overclock. 4) You did not fry your CPU while overclocking. 5) 512 MB vRAM? 7300 GT? Otherwise, not.
Look at it this way, Lets say all donkeys can pull a cart weighing 10 pounds at a speed of 5km per hour. Therefore 1 donkey can pull a 10 pound cart at 5km/hr 2 donkeys = a 20 pound cart at 5km/hr 3 donkeys = a 30 pound cart at 5km/hr etc. As you see the more donkeys you have pulling the cart, the more power achieved and therefore the heavier the cart can be. This is the same as processors. Dual core processors are the same speed as their single core brothers, yet they are more powerful.
ok, lets say you have 1000 donkey's pulling a 10lb cart. at 5 mile sper hour... why the ---- are you paying for donkeys to pul one single cart if they can't get any extra benefit.
Um, no? Each core is deticated to one application. Both of the cores do not work on the same on. To revize your story, if you have two wagons and 1 donkey, say pulling both at 2.5 mph. With the second donkey (core), you would obviously be able to do it faster. Not actulally 5 mph, a bit slower, but you get the point (cache misses may be accounted, etc etc.
