that's nto too horible of an OC, go for it, just make sure cooln quiet is on on your motherboard as it helps preserve your procs life esp when OC-ed.

Also your power supply might blow up if you overclock farther without a good power supply.

uhh, sorry to disappoint you but there are no overclocking programs. You can only overclock your CPU/RAM through your motherboard bios. As for the person who said to keep Cool 'n' Quiet on, doesnt know what he is talking about.
Now if you read the link i gave you, you would already know this.
Here is the link again if you didnt see it,

    ust O

in most BIOSes there is an option to disable it. On mine I had to enable it because by defualt it was disabled. I was jus reminding himj to make sure it was on if he was worried about heat. Really YOU get YOUR facts straight.

FYI stpl, if you know the make of your mobo you could try to flash it for an unlocked BIOS.

it really isn't worth the cost of a new motherboard just to OC though. If you need a new one for another reason, then go ahead, but not to OC.

ohh also, whoever said you can't OC with just software is wrong... look into nTune, that OCs only through software.

When cool 'n' quiet is enabled it automatically lowers your vcore and CPU multiplier when the system is idle. While in the process of overclocking you need to eventually up your vcore voltage .05 or so.
So by enabling this option you screw yourself over if you want to overclock.

But dont get me wrong this option isnt 'the devi', it is only highly recommended to be disabled when overclocking.

So you actually need to get the right facts.

And as for overclocking, i dont think you should go anywhere near it until you get some sort of understanding of what to do.

hwta happend is i went out and bought the chipset fan and the exspansion slot fan. the chiset fan came with two heatsinks, both of which did not fit, so what i did was instead of using the heatsink they gave me, i used the original one just with the fan which is alot better. and the expansion slot fan is for graphics and it cools the whole case by taking loads of hot air out of it.
