    BFTP,
do you know of a good, RELIABLE portal that incorporates IPB?
would require a gallery and a download section.

Not sure what your speakin' about G70, can you be a bit clearer, or give an example?

Your looking for a website portal, that can incorporate IPB into it, or an IPB mod that is a portal?

as long as it has a portal that can have sections added thru a GIU
    i'm fine
either an IPB with a portal or a portal with IPB
like phpnuke, postnuke... but i'm told those arent very stable?

I'm not sure about phpnuke and postnuke; never bothered using them.

You can go either way, but its easier if you stick with just IPB Mods, let me break it down for you:

    - Here's a good IPB Portal, called Unreal Portal;
    http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php/f/3063

    With an example here:
    http://www.unreal-solutions.org/

If your wanting a downloads system, and gallery; those are seperate IPB mods, from the portal. The download system can be found on invisionize as well; look for Dean's(d-scripting), his and bfarber's(if he's released his yet at invisionize), those should serve your purpose. You can create categories, set limits based on member groups, etc...sort of like the GR Arcade here.

If your wanting a gallery, you can go 2 routes: have a simple coded one outside of Invision Power Board, on your main website space, or purchase the one from IPB, for $60 dollars, was the last going price when I checked. By the way, this is all for v2.0x+, if you need this all for v1.3, might be alittle harder, or easier, on certain aspects.

    Hope this helps alittle..

    BFTP, another question

this is what i inted to set up
    Invision Powerboard (lifetime subscription)
    Invision Gallery
    Invision Blog

We'll also get the IPB portal modification, which is freeware right?

i am assuming all this will be compatible, so members can access and control every aspect of their account with one single subscription?

    last question:
can data from a phpbb be transferred completely into the IPB? including the memberdatabase?
meaning peeps can login in with their phpbb account login and pw?

Your willing to spend quite a bit of money on this aren't you?

Thats well over $300 dollars right there.

    Anyways...

Yes, that portal is freeware. If you don't like how it works, their are several others out there, each alittle different.

Are you going to be using the default IPB skin, or are you going to be lookin' for an IPB skin as well?

Yes, it would be all compatiable in IPB, with you only needing to sign up once, but you would be able to control certain aspects of it through the AdminCP (Control Panel), for example:

    - How many pictures they can upload in the gallery, or in what categories, or who can, etc.

    - I don't use the blog mod much, so can't tell you if its worth the money, i've never really seen a site bother with it, but you can choose who is allowed a blog, how many characters is in it, etc.

Another IPB Portal that works well, also is:
    D2-My Portal 1.2 © 2005 Dean (D-Scripting)

Which allows each user alittle bit more control over what their Portal looks like when they go to the site. What shows up, where at, etc. Making each user's portal more unique, IMO. ( I like this one alot better, i just couldn't find the link yesterday )

Depending on how your IPB gallery is set up, it can be kind of big on a site with your small web space/bandwidth, what sort of hosting plan do you have set up?

    Hope this helps...

    Okay, here is an option:

    http://www.invisionboard.com/act.ips/downl...pid=conv_phpbb2

    Converting phpBB(i hope its the right version you have, if not..not sure) to IPB v1.3;

You could convert it to v1.3, have IPB update it up to ver2.0.4, and have them install the gallery and blog to your board, and you get everything you wanted, with all your topics/post still there(hopefully).

I've never done something like this before, so wouldn't be able to help or guide you on it, though I'm sure I can figure something out if you need help with it ;)

Also, on a side note from my PM to you about the skins, I forgot IPB also made a downloads mod you can buy; something else you were wanting I believe. Though the freeware is better;)

Thank Albemit for helpin' me find the link, I was having trouble.
