I've gotten that many times on my laptop and the end result was i had to reformat it. There could be hard drive errors or something of the like.

To format you need a Windows Xp or Vista disk, Then boot up the disk using the BIOS. Its all really simple if the BIOS is set to read CDs before it reads the HD

The good news is, if you have Vista, when you reformat, it makes a partition called Windows.old that has all of your old info on... easiest way to do it IMHO.

Even when on XP you can still save all old data, Just need to back it up onto another hard drive then make sure you dont format it during Xp installation
