You know all these accounts with like 1 post, and went on the forums for maybe an hour then left and never came back?
    They should be deleted.
There's so many frickin' members who want good names.
For example, if I wasn't in BC I would like the name Architect but it's taken.
Of course it's going to take a very long time but I'm sure you could think up a way around it.
    Maybe even rename the accounts?

It's already been suggested, well along these lines.

They said no, because if the user was to come back, what would they do?

I'm talking about the 1 year+ old account with nothing on it, if the user comes back (which is unlikely) they probably won't remember their user name and will just create a new one.

And if they still remember they password and username?

What then? I think they don't need to delete the old accounts.

I think if maybe we send an e-mail to the account in question and ask if the person plans on coming back or would mind if the username was given to a more active member, then it would be Ok. Or even if the person did not respond to the e-mail within a few weeks, then the name becomes available again, but the name would have to be requested first.

That is a good idea hydro but what would you do if they don't respond to the e-mail? I mean most students are busy with real life and they don't bother or remember ever signing up to this site with all the other ones that they tend to visit. It can also be the e-mail is invalid on some b/c they have removed it and made a new one. I like the idea though hydrogen so we could give that a try.

He said give them a couple of weeks.

But if they change there email that really isn't GR's problem.

I was browsing by real quick so I missed some parts of it.

How will you know if they'll come back or not if they changed their email and whether or not they want to come back one day?

we would of course give them sufficient time to reply to the mail,we would'nt just blatantly delete their account if they did not respond within a week

Not a bad suggestion, although, I think members that have automatically purchased a Donator or Premium Membership should be the exception to this rule.
Only email members that have completely nothing on their account, and only if they haven't been active in over a year. (As stated above.)
