Ok Have Another Problem

ok i just got counter strike source. and when i try to put the cdkey in it give me a thing that says, must download the retail standard and i go wtf, and dont know what to do can anyone help me plz?

umm go to the cs homepage and download it?

 

I got the same thing with a HL2 account, tells me that I have to install HL2 retail before I can do anything.

I thought you could d/l it off of steam?

in order to play CSS you need to have HL2 installed. since CS is a mod of HL it uses the same engine and alot of the same sounds, sprites, etc...

So install HL2, then CSS, then click on uninstall HL2 and it will uninstall every file that you don't need to properly run CSS.

You have a retail version. You need to install with the CD then DL the updates with STEAM.

 

ok i did all that and now i cant even sign into my user account

completley uninstall all half life 2 games/mods. make sure your steam insint running. now all those 6 pretty shinney cd's that came in the box arent just to hang on your wall. you actually have to install the half life 2 game!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!1!!1!! then once you do that. go into steam the browse games then register product..... THEN you put the cd key in!!!. and after that you install css. and i hope you have a decent computer. cuz even putting the video quailty settings on low it doesnt make a difference

 

mine came with 5 discs and i have tried everything that u said and nothing works
