Whats so bad about using brushes in your bgs?

I use brushes in mine and I think they come out nice!

Well they just dont look nice usually.
If used right they can work, but rarely.
But its good practice to learn the basics of sigs.

Yeah. They don't really look like my kind of style. I'll keep with brushes.

And here is a tip..... If you wanna use a render and it doesn't blend with the bg...still use it! But when you add the render press Ctrl > B then mess around with the settings to change the color.

I'm sure everyone knows that one but it is pretty useful :)

    Render tip:

Sharpening renders=bad (only looks good wih grunge)

Choose your render, duplicate it, set it to overlay, on teh overlay render go to filter<other<high-pass and choose 5/15 and there you go! good looking render :D :D

    I <3 this thread btw

only make c4d based sigs if you have made all of the c4ds in it

brushes are okay, as long as you have made them and know how to use them

never current a sig you made from a tut

arial is a great overall font, with a few edits it can fit every kind of sig

    For an Overall sharpened effect~

once you have completed your sig, go to image>apply image> filter> sharpen> sharpen

it may look bad i some places fo erase it with a soft brush onm 50%

My absolute fabourite tip is: After you've finished a sig Create a New Layer and then go Image>Apply Image. After that go to Filter>Sharpen>Sharpen.

    Heres my favorite tip:

Duplicate your renders (Make sure to save the one you want) and and spread it around the canvas till the background is not seen. Merge the renders BUT the one you want on. Then duplicate it again (Incase you mess up) and hide that layer. On the visible one apply a blur of your choosing and set it to Soft Light or Overlay. The reason why i like this is it makes the sig look more better. If you need to lighten it up duplicate it again and set it to color dodge and mess with the opacity on both layers.

Thats what i like to do on some of my Signatures...
