I'm actually kind of insulted that you said that at all. If anyone can compete in the race, its Nintendo. They've provided quality games since the ressurection of gaming all the way back to Super Mario Bros. They chose not to include hi-def support. They chose not to make graphics the focus of the console. Nintendo chose to go for gameplay instead of visuals, which is also why they chose to be the better company and not compete so fiercely with Sony and Microsoft. I think the reason they had this inspiration for gameplay is because their the only company that still wants to have their games be innovative. They didn't know why that it was only OK to make innovative changes on screen (i.e. Sony and Microsoft) instead of off the screen. And honestly there is so much more I could say about Wii, but I think I'll save the essay for you guys later.
Actually...Twistedsister was half correct. Nintendo needs to keep low price, since most gamers care only about graphics and not about gameplay. I also agree that Nintendo was always innovative, but the thing is,that they always recycle their games, and they get only few new GOOD games(or games that get noticed). Either way...Wii will be either first or second best next-gen console.
Do more research on it. I'm sure there's something you've missed. Graphic-wise: Maybe Wii won't win, maybe it won't even be able to compete with PS3 or 360. Gameplay-wise: Wii will blow them away. Nintendo is being smart. It's a GAMING console, so they make the GAMEPLAY more important than graphics. Wii IMO is going to win the console battle. I'll admit, I'm slightly biased. I am, in a way, a nintendo fan boy. But I give credit where credit is due. Wii has 1.) The nunchuck controller. Imagine playing Zelda: TP with that. Imagine playing any FPS with that. 2.) Backwards compatility-ish. If I remember right, it will be able to play gamecube games. Also, you'll be able to download games for NES, SNES, N64, and I've heard...either genesis or saturn, but that may just be a rumor. Who doesn't want to play Punch-Out!! or Secret of Mana on a console again?
More than likely. I doubt Nintendo will give away their previous games. NES and SNES may be a different story, who knows.
Yes, what you've heard is true. The virtual console will feature those games and some games from the Genesis. Honestly I dont think the NES games will be more than a dollar, and SNES games and Genesis games being over 2.50. But I'm almost positive they wont be over five dollar downloads though. Originally, I thought that Nintendo would have put serial numbers on their cartridges... I haven't checked my old ones, but I'm quite sure that they have them. I just figured you type in the games serial number and viola, you have your nostalgia on Wii. But I'm almost positive this wont happen due to issues with people sending their serial numbers to friends.
im definately gunna get a wii it just looks so much more fun than the 360 ans ps3 for a fraction of the price. im not really to fond of the name tho
I have had the 360 since about a week before launch ( I was one of the many winners of the www.every10minutes.com contest ) AND I enjoy it alot! But I plan on getting a PS3 and Wii aswell. I am not a fan of any particular brand name or anything, I just want some good, fun games. To me the Wii looks very fun , just one problem, if it is not in HD then won't it look ugly for those of us who have 50+ inch HDTV's? I still plan to get one anyway even if that means hooking up my old smaller TV.
I dont think it will be ugly.. but this is for ur casual gamer, who doesnt try to spend a lot. 50+ inches are a lot.. I got a 65" tv but I use a 30" one for my gaming
The Wii is gonna be my dream console. Its probably gonna be a sleek design, and light/portable. New controller idea is great! All the classic games: Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Zelda, Mario. and think of mario party with that new controller. also all sports games are gonna be very sweet! its gonna be cheap, probably 200 USD. Now all I need is for it to come out... I heard its expected November 06, anyone know anything bout release date?
