Recently my computer has become infected by this file that looks like old winzip icon, and basically what it does is replicate itself with a list of filenames, such as aol crack, yahoo hack, battlefield crack, and there are like thousands of possible names.

Every single file is ~48kilobytes i think, ... basically they're all the same exact size.

It infects every single media folder on the computer, it got into my /shared/ folder, my "my shared folder", "my music", and even a few more.

Basically I just want to know if anyone else has ran across this?

edit: i forgot to add, it disables ctrl+alt+del

First thing is unplug your computer from the Internet!!!!!

Cause now it is trying to spread itself. Then go into safe mode, and run a scan. Try and get it cleaned before you plug the internet back.

yea, and if youre running Norton, get rid of it. Try Avast, Nod32, or AVG. anything is 100000000 times better than Norton...

All of the above that is said.

Avast- http://www.Avast.com -free registration for a serial by e-mail. quick. Avast will also do an At-boot scan, which scans infriged files before they boot up. nice features

Nod32- free and paid versions, not much difference but the anoying popups saying buy it for the free vers....

AVG- by Grisoft- a good AV, free and paid. couldnt ever get the updates, but that was when i was a bit younger, might have just been stupid...

((uh... Stan? you want to keep off the internet, not be on it, as Hydrogen said))

Yes, when you download Avast, you already have the latest virus definitions, so scan away!! No need for updates..

lol, ok. you can run the scan right now, Avast doesn't take up much system resources. Limewire generally would take more...
