    Hey everyone,

I'm planning to build a new system and need your recommendations. I'm saving up money for it so budget shouldn't be a problem. Please suggest me if there's something better than the following which I have planned on getting. I will be mainly doing Graphic Designing, general Multitasking and Gaming on this PC:

    Motherboard:
ASUS Rampage III Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
    CPU:
    Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor
    RAM:
    CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D
    Graphics Card:
XFX HD-587X-ZNFV Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
    Power Supply:
SILVERSTONE ST1200 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
    Casing:
Antec Nine Hundred Two Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

    Total for the System: $1668/£1145.

I'm not sure about the Casing though but I think it should do the job.

What do you say? Do I have to add something? I'm also going to get a CPU cooler but I'm not to sure which one I should get?

PSU is way overkill for that system. You should be alright with a 550-650w unit.

And what if I plan on installing another GPU later on? and I forgot to mention that I am also going to get a SSD for my OS. Velocity Raptor 120 GB. That will be accompanied by 1TB and 500GB HDDs.

Even if you do install an extra, say

    1x GPU
    2x HDD
    1x SSD

1200w is still overkill. I know a guy who benched four 5870s in CrossFire, using LN2, and he used a 1200w for that and it was still more than he needed.

I'd say 650w would still be perfectly fine for dual GPUs, and anything over 800w is overkill.

This seems pretty good value. Less than half the cost of that 1200w unit and still got plenty of juice. Also it only has a single 12v line, which is ideal compared to that 1200w's six.

Hmm really? I'm sorry but I may have been told by my friend otherwise which is why I had decided to buy that 1200W PSU. That's a very good advice then if that's the case, thanks a lot bro. And yeah that PSU does looks very fine and is also priced decently. Anything else you'd like to say about this system?

I also need a CPU cooler since I will be OC'ing the CPU and Rams.

Well, I'm a little bit out of the loops as far as most hardware goes, so I'm not up to date on what's the peak performance for your dollar, but the rest of it looks pretty good to me. There should be a few people on here who can be more specific, though. XD

That Silverstone PSU is major overkill the Corsair will be plenty.
CPU heatsink that I use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242001&Tpk=megahalem
It doesnt come with a fan so fans to look at

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835705002&cm_re=panaflo-_-35-705-002-_-Product

The Panaflo will give you the best cooling out of the fans I posted but you will need 120x38 fan clips for it http://www.amazon.com/Prolimatech-Megahalems-fan-clip-38mm/dp/B002HT12DQ

The board is nice but I wouldnt buy it not worth the money I would get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131641

I read and heard lots of good things about the P6X58D boards. All the x58 boards overclock can do 4.0 without a problem on air. The Extreme would be a better option for water or LN2 OC'ing.

    Memory

I prefer Mushkin over any other brand.

The case is fine I really like this one it just looks badass to me

Thanks a bunch for that advice mates, I hope Mushkin RAMS will be as fast as Dominator or XMS3. I hope to a friend last night and he told me to future proof myself by buying a 1200W PSU, because if I later on decide to run dual nVidia GTX480 GPUs I might need the 1200W. Don't know if I'll do that since I will be perfectly contended for the next 2 years or so with my current GPU and PC. So I'm going to get those suggested here.

About the Motherboard, what is the major difference between those two? I'm also looking to get good sound out of my mobo and a friend said that the Maximus III has a very good built in sound card which should do the trick for me. So I don't know.

The case you suggested is awesome no doubt about it but I won't get it here I think, you see we have very limited computer parts in this country, I can order the mobo and everything else from Amazon or something but getting a Case of 30 pounds shipped to another continent would cost me a fortune. So I'll either get the Antec one or perhaps the Silverstone Raven.

700W is about right for that system(CPU +RAM + Harddrives is under 250 W and TWO 5870s are under 450W)

for cooler, bang/$ I'd go for a scythe mugen II.

Rampage has 4 pci-e x16 slots and has more overclocking options. Onboard sound is only OK TBH if you want really good sound you will need to get a sound card. Zohair what country are you in cause that case is sold in most of Europe and in Australia?

You got some nice specs there. What game are you playing by the way that you going to need those?

Oh, take care! Away from home is hard you know... :3
