in my opinion anything over 2g is acomplete waste. 1.2-5G is the point where you can have a rig which maxes everything out just fine... heck I could get a system for close to 1k which would max everything out.

Yes, but if he spends 5K, he will be maxing out everything now, and later (at least for 2 years). DX-10 wont be needed for many (if any) games for awhile and i dont see the advantages of getting Vista, so you wouldnt have to worry about that. But yes, multiple kentsfields, with like 4-8GB of memory, 2x 7950x2 (equally 4 gfx cores).... that would be supiorer against.... a very lot.

    Hmm?
$7000! Holy crap, thats alot. If I was you, and wanted to get one asap, I'd get a kick ass dell! The latest and greatest xps, or the nearest too. But it may be overkill, on second thoughts, wait for Vista and DX10, then get a computer than will own both of them, leaving you unrestricted for the best part of the following 2 years.

You guys are talking about having two 7950's, and I assume you mean put them in SLI, however I'm pretty sure it isnt possible to SLI, at least in practical perspective.
