My budget is at $2,500 at most, and I want to be able to upgrade for a second video card, another pair of ram, a quad core cpu, all later on. Tell me what you guys think about it. Im sorta concerned about the mobo bios issues, etc. I also picked a more expensive E6700 so it can be overclocked to 3.8 GHz from what I saw from a review site with that mobo, such as a X6800 with a EVGA to 3960 Mhz which seems more expensive and a waste of money to use a X6800.

That video card doesnt come with anything since its OEM and looked at it before. I really dont want to bother overclocking the videocard since i have no idea how to do that. Second I looked at the motherboard a while ago, it looked nice but with a E6600 it got only a 2.9 GHz overclock from what I saw from a review. BTW I really want to get the best for the money I have now, so no cheap OEM parts for video cards, etc (the raptor x im fine with). Also I am going to wait for the Intel price cuts and probebly build this pc such as in August when I have all the money needed. By the time I actually buy the parts and everything, im hoping to get a QX6700, hoping that all the prices will go down such as the motherboard, ram (DDR3 comming out I think), and things like that.

same drive, 10$ cheap plus additional technologies embedded fi you decide to go into RAID.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136012

    few more things to note

intel price cuts on the 22nd, quadcore q6600 for $266
P35 and P38 chipsets are out from intel as well, new and better baords withina short period of time.

don't pay so damned much for the video card, $500 is the going rate for the 8800GTXes

    RAM, that's good stuff.
but you can have twice as much of comparable RAM for less

if your ganna buy it in august, then i suggest making a whole new list about a week before you buy, since im pretty sure intel isnt the only company that will have price cuts, and plus, new stuff will be out so better to wait and see rather than making your decision now

    ohh

if 3.8Ghz is your goal accept a few things, the CPu won't last quite so long, voltage icnreases will need to be done.
also a e6600 will be about to reach that speed with only 420FSB which si quite atainable with a 680i/650i board or a p35 or p38 board.

from what i saw on a review specificlly Overclock3D with a voltage of 1.65v with a E6700 (Source: http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews.php?typ...75_motherboard), and i will be changing parts by the time Fall comes. Also is there any problems with the motherboard with ram or the bios? Also about the FSB, the review said that "Poor FSB overclocking on this board - possibly linked to hot NorthBridge temperatures", there is no fan included for the northbridge. The reason why I picked the 650$ card that is becasue I originally picked the ASUS 8800GTX, but its out of stock at the moment.

you do realize that the 3.8Ghz they noted wasn't intended as 24/7

also note that each CPu varies, the golden age of CPus was week 26-35 most newer CPus had their manufacturing process tweaked for higher yields(but the CPUs don't OC as well)

penryn might be able to do 3.8GHz 24/7 on air, but not conroe

3.5-3.7 is probably a bit more doable though.

With Intel boards you want those board drivers on first no matter what. Otherwise it won't be as fast as it could be. Great build so far, good luck.

One thing; Not every CPU is the same. That guy's x6800 may clock to 4Ghz on Air, but that does NOT say yours will do the same. Some processors can clock very high on low voltage and some don't. On Conroe, only early steppings do good atm, just as xelink said.

There still isnt a new bios update from the orignal one for the motherboard I picked, from looking on many forums there is tons of problems with it posting, etc

What do you guys think of this motherboard

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DQ6 LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128046

    or

ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX The Ultimate Gaming Motherboard - Retail
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131074

Or can someone suggest another motherboard, the price of it really isnt a problem, im really looking for the best one so far out.

some theories are that intels hiegher yields process resulted in about the same number of good CPus per wafer and an increased number of OK CPUs and a lowered number of rejects.

the good CPUs then went into quads since quad core procs by intels standards need the ability to run at lower voltages.
