AMD athlon 64 3800+ gigabyte GA-M55plus-s3g mobo 1gb pc2-5300 DDR2 Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS total cost: 450$
ugh... I got more for $660 was: AM2 X2 3800 (dual core) ASUS M2N-Sli Deluxe 1gb (dual 512) DDR2 800 OCZ ATI X800GTO Samsung 160GB SATA HDD Samsung DVD+-R/RW w/lightscribe Raidmax Scorpio 877 case sockets 939/940 are dying, AM2 is the new future. was it the 7300 or 7400 that was bad? anyway, youd get more out of a x800gto or x850
no harddrive power suply or case? it isn't bad, though I'd suggest x850XT insteed for the GFX card almsot 3 times the pwoer for 100$ after MIR
yeah you would need an HDD, PSU and a case to stick everything in. Also xelink, you will have to strike the MIR on the x850xt...tis no more.
all the matters are the ICs on the ram. there is a lot of DDR2 that is merely 533mhz rated to run at 1.4V with tight timinginsgs and at 2.2V it suddently becomes DDR2-1000RAM.
depends on what you do, if you're on a budget single core is astill a great alternative as few people really utilize the second core, it just makes multitasking slightly easier. for a $450 system I'd recomend the following athlon 64 3000+ OC it 70$ 1GB DDR2 of almost anything 100$ cheap 80$ board likely from biostar or ePox 80$ coolermaster centurion 5 case 35$ x850XT 125$ or x800GTO 90$ 250GB baracuda w/ PRM80$ Enhance ENP-5150GH 66$ something like that, good fast and reliable, atleat post OCing/unlocking you can cut on the harddrive and PSUs to a point should it be absolutely necessary. GeForce 6500 for 50$ works to a point comapreable to a 7300
