    I'd buy the Pentium E.

    Pentium E> Pentium D

If I were overclocking it I'd sure as hell go for the PE.
If I wasn't OCing I'd probably still go for it because it's newer better tech.

    that would work.

FYI you don't even "need" to swap boards since the ~$50 board you chose works wit the PE.

    a small disadvantage.

biggest disadvantage is in the featureset and overclocking areas though.

if you don't need RAID options out your ass and stupid little extras(99% of people don't myself included) then asside form it being a porrer overclocker there's no reason nto to get it.

If someone could help me find a PSU that would be awesome. I know nothing about psu's so i dont know which ones would be best for the above system, the system may change so if after posting you could help me a little. I like the clear blue APEVIA's but i would settle with anything w/ blue leds or something like that.

    here are the Apevia's:

    apevia PSUs are absolute ----.

all I can say, you can get A LOT better for 50 bucks. Hell you can get better for 30 bucks. FYI I wouldn't expect your total system load to exceed 200watts just letting you know, so a high quality 300+ W PSU is all you need, don't waste money by purchasing a "500W" unit which can hardly put out 100W with reliability.

here's a review on the PSU you noted
    http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html...W50aHVzaWFzdA==

FYI 99% of apevia's PSUs are of comparable quality. That's not a good thing

when you have every single unit you test physically start to melt and you're unable to complete testing because of it, that's a problem.

again and I've said it before and before and again and again.. with PSUs quality>quantity.

    consider this unit
    http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-E5140GH
    http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=24
based on what I see, the "400W" enhance PSU(enhance makes mostly server grade PSUs though they sell their units to OEMs like silverstone as well) can sustain 400W load better than the "500W" apevia unit does - at a mere 300W.

thanks a lot, i did read the apevia reviews and knew it sucked but i was saying i liked the design. You got any ideas on other parts or something to lower parts cost? I picked out this monitor to get also http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16824009108

That psu u posted has sata power connectors right?

    yes

what parts do you plan on getting again?
what do you plan on using the system for?

again prices have fallen since the last time you were on. probably not by much on the low end but still within reasonability.
