This is my first build to let everyone know. And yes I know socket 939 is dead but i don't plan on upgrading the CPU. I may upgrade the video card. I'm not ready for Vista or DX 10 so the OS and GPU are fine and i'm fine with 1 GB RAM. I don't really plan to overclock things except the video card. Now my questions 1) Is the PSU enough for the system with the 7900GS 2) Do I have all the components to be able to put it together boot it up, install Windows and go? I don't need to buy any wires and stuff? If anyone can built me a Core 2 Duo build with a video card as good as the 7900GS be my guest. Just keep it either at this price or below. Remember my parents are paying for this because my old PC (Dimension 2350) broke. Thank God!
would have to think a bit on that build... http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=PS-E5150G...ea9cc771c8ad72# that PSU is better bang/$ go AM2... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103036 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813138026 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145539 x2 3600+ it's the sempron of dual core, but hey it works and it overclocks like a champ too... Ehh, Athlons aren't the best bang/$. Also, Aprevia's cases aren't the best, though their pictures look sleek. For relatively the cheapest good system, I'd go with these parts: Core 2 Duo E'4300 Biostar TForce P965T RAM eVGA 7900GS Seagate Barracuda 250GB/320GB Enhance ENP 500W (link) Your Apevia case (I guess) NEC CD/DVD R+RW That should be around $980ish. If that is too much, drop to 1GB of RAM. Edit, didnt read the last line of your post, lemme edit this build a little. RAM Edit: possibly this kit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820144027 No, it is not Micron, it's Elphia, but you can't expect Micron in a value buy. That puts you around the $815 range. Maybe lower.
i dont have the $ for that im at max right now with 810 and i dont care about upgrading the 939 seems good =/
why would i do that? even with the 7600GT its still over 900 with your c2d build listen Im at MAX price right now and theres no way im going to be able to fit a high quality card such as the 7900GS with a core 2 duo build
are you able to reuse any optical drives or harddrives? or your windows lisence? because you could really increase your leeway if you can.
What are you talking about? Yes you can; look at this: E'4300 -- $175 Biostar -- $104 GeiL -- $104 eVGA 7600GT -- $110 Seagate -- $80 CoolerMaster (cheaper case) -- $40 NEC CD/DVD -- $30 Enhance ENP -- $70 That is about $750, including shipping. You could probably upgrade to better RAM, something with Micron ICs.
he could probably get by with promos if he had to, or even elpida, micron is best for OCing without a doubt, but it's just a few percentage points off of overall performance w' cheaper stuff.
i already took apart that POS dell only thing i could reuse would be floppy and i have to get the windows disc so is it ok if i go with this?
Can't see why you can't fit my build into your budget. You can get a Student Version of Windows XP --- for free, legally. The Student Version's are meant to duplicated as many times as you want. I am running it right now, with no WGA notifications or any of that BS, and I know other people are using the same CD-Key. You just have to do a little research, and then you can save yourself a bunch of money.
again if you can reuse your CD, go with johns build but try this RAM for a bit less http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145539 it will most likely either be proMOS or micron D9. if it's promos, you could probably expect DDR2-800 @4-4-4-X which is still fairly good. Sure, my micron hits DDR2-800 4-3-3-X at 2.2V(though my motherboard doesn't want to boot at CAS3 after the lastest bios flash so it could probably do 3-3-3 on a motherboard which is less argressive with memory performance) with an e4300, you don't even need that high of an FSB, 3GHz on the CPU is FSB 333, with he RAM at DDR2-667. then, just reuse your old harddrives and optical drives to cut some extra cost. otherwise go w/ what I had suggested in my first post. dual core isn't the future, it is right now and it's nice.
