New Banner & Splash Page For Gamerenders.com.

It's just that the "Free Gaming Images" adds appeal so much, compo-wise.

I would've wanted to use it lol

This ends in a couple of hours depending on which time zone they are going by. I doubt there will be many more entries. Possibly a couple but thats unlikely.

Good luck I saw alot of nice entries Wish I would have had the time to enter, but I had alot going on Good luck to all who entered.

 

Not dissing but I didn't feel like any of the splash entries had the correct theme going. The only person who got anywhere close was ex, but I don't like his text work at the top.

I just don't see how you can make an entry page to a render site and include any less than 3 renders. If certain(stupid) people only see one render, they'll simply see it as "Hey, this is a halo site" or "Oh, this is a spiderman site." and not bother entering. If this site is about renders, they need to be on the splash page. I vote we reopen the contest and let the designers keep that in mind. If you choose to do so, maybe you should make a list of good games to use. Games that have had a major effect and have a big fan base like HL2, FF, GTA, WoW, stuff like that.

On another note, there were some excellent entries showing major skill in design. I like.

well thats you opinion and your entitled to it, GR since i joined 2 years ago has always had a Halo render on the splash so whats wrong with having a render from another game? and why something that has a big fan base?
What about all the new games that are on their way out over the next year or so like Haze,Assasins Creed, GT etc.. a splash doesnt make the site its the people and the content in that site that make Gr what it is.

Its only there really to say 'this is gamerenders' - make a selction 'forums or downloads'...

i dont think that the members of GR should vote on the splash or banner as this can easily lead to people voting for friends and also reputation of a certain person. It should all be voted on by the staff of GR as im sure they can all give an unbiased vote.

but im looking forward to seeing what gets chosen though ^_^

 

Just because it's been done for however many years doesn't make it a good idea. And pick something that has a big fan base because it's timeless. Halo and CS and FF are timeless, they have left marks on videogame history therefore will not be outdated for an extremely long time. Secondly, in case you get one of the stupid people here that don't bother looking around, maybe they'll see the picture and think "Hey, this forum talks about this game. I think I'll sign up." Higher popularity leads to higher chance of that one guy being a fan of that game.

Agreed, the splash does not make the site. But, a splash page is supposed to represent what the site does and I feel that only including one shiny render isn't going to be a good idea.
