Ok, so my Alienware Aurora showed up today and didn't get time to mess with it till now. My sound is horrible on it and i can't really hear my buddy in Ventrilo. Idk if it's a soundcard issue or what but i need help. Badly. for my soundcard in the device manager it just says High Definition Audio device and i know it's a 7.1. Suggestions? Help? Gun to kill me?
send it back get a refund? Suicide is not the answer.....uh call da customer service n ask for help or google some info I'm not good with alienware stuff....sorry don't hate me >_<.
could possibly be you should dl it and try and uhm I'm not sure but do alienware comps run on vista or xp they have their own os?
Just download the newest DirectX already, and the latest Audio driver if your problem hasn't been solved by the DirectX. And be sure your headphones aren't just crap.
So i google latest Version of Directx and i can't find where to download just a regular download for it. The one microsoft is giving me to download is DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer and it's not showing up on my computer
You have to use the web installer. Microsoft are dicks like that. But since you have an authentic copy of Vista you should have no problems. You just need to install the addon and go to the install page.
this is why you NEVER buy anything when you have no idea what you're getting. and this is why you NEVER brag about not knowing what you're getting. install realtek drivers. I don't know if you have vista 64 or 32. google it.
You can check what version of vista you have by going start > control panel > system and maintenance > system and under the System line it should be listed next to system type if you are running 32 bit or 64 bit. Or if you cant seem to find that for some reason, if you computer has 4 or more gigs of ram then Alienware should have installed 64 bit on your computer. That is unless of course Alienware is stupider than I already thought.
A surprising amount of OEM manufacturers (HP, Dell, Alienware etc) use 32bit even with 4gig+ of RAM. Probably because it saves them from having to explain to customers why their 16bit software wont work on it.
