My dad just got a new computer, a Toshiba laptop. He got a Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless Print Server w/ 4-port Switch. For those of you who don't know what that is, is it's a Connecter that let's your print wirelessly without hooking anything fromy your computer to your printer. Well anyway, I installed the software for my Hp psc 2210 all-in-one printer, Then I put the software disk for the Netgear in, then clicked on 'Set up a printer'. The Wireless print server came with a Ethernet cord, a firewire cord (One side is firewire, the other side is usb, that way you can connect it from your printer to the computer.) The Print server has 2 usb ports and 4 ethernet ports, so what I did is I connected my computer to the printer using the firewire cable, then connected the the Wireless Print Server by putting a ethernet cord from my computer to the Print server. I've inserted the installation disk for the print server and carefully followed the directions, the part that I'm stuck on is.. "Connect the Print Server to the PC." Mentioned above, it states that I already did that. There's a loading bar that says "Detecting WGPS606" It takes about 2 minutes for that to load, and then an error comes up that says: "The Installation Assist can not detect your print server." Possible causes for this error: The cable from your computer to the print server may not be connected. The Print server is turned off. (It's not..) Firewall on your system is enabled. Please turn it off. ( I turned it off but the same thing isn't happening, so I'm pretty sure it's not the firewall. )" I tried connecting the Ethernet cord to another Ethernet port on the Print server, nothing happened. I tried turning off my firewall, nothing happened. I tried to shut off and power back on the print server, nothing happened. Can anyone please help?? Thanks in advanced!!
