ok, in order to play a new game, I need to update my computer a bit.

    Currently, I have the following:

    P4 2.7ghz
    256mb ram DDR
Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 with 32mb video ram AGP 4x I think (yes i know it sucks, but its all i could afford at the time)
    60gb hdd
    40gb hdd
16x DVD RW/CD RW combo drive, BenQ

and I need my system ram up to 512mb, and my video up to 128mb.

Now I'm running on a tight budget, and I live in the US.

From checking my sources, I got it down to this:

    Chaintech XGI Volari V3 / 128MB DDR / AGP 8X / VGA / DVI / TV Out / Video Card- 29.99
    SimpleTech 266MHz PC2100 256MB $26.99

I need to check up on stuff and see what exact type I need, but this should be enough to start on.

I can put it together, I'm just not sure what to buy... or what I need...

my board wouldnt work with Athalon64... its only socket478... only Pentium or celeron..

And to your question Keels, I want to play Raikon (that new game made by Softnyx) and when i try to download it, it tells me i need to upgrade to 512mb ram and 128mb video ram.

I would go with a 512 Mb memory pc-3200 they arent that expensive and Something like an ATI radeon 9200 SE 128 Mb that card is around 45 bux but i live in sweden so the prices might be different in US

You can go for a P4 processor instead of a celeron processor - The advice i give you about the memory is that they both need to be the SAME if they are not then your PC would not work properly. Its better if you buy 2 x 256mb RAM DDR memory sticks so that theres no error with different memory being inserted. If you want to further improve your PC get a new motherboard - AMD64 better at gaming than Pentiums so this is just a suggestion

Well they dont need to be the same. i have different memorys in my comp and it works just great. unless it is paired memorys from the beginning. i know some memorys u MUST have 2 exactly alike or it wont work at all but other then that its ok to mix them. but ofcourse if u mix a 400 mhz with a 333 u wont get the benefits of the 400 mhz but the memory will still work fine

yeah, I speak from experience. I refurbish computers at the place I volunteer, and they deal with PIII and below, so we're dealing with PC100, PC133 and PC100. PC100 will not work with PC133, but PC64 works fine with PC64, odd. I'd just get the same type of PC2300 that I have now.

Only problem with getting an Athalon64-supported board and CPU is the price. unless all of you in here can get me a dollar, I'd be set...

I can run WC3 smoothly on my current settings, so Im not worried. Im not a BIG gamer, I just play some games. I'm more of a Warez or coding person than a gamer...

Edit- Ok, nother question, by the CPu-z stuff, do I need a 4x AGP card? I see 4x and 8x, and dont know what to buy...
