Give me some bands that are like Escape the fate or FFTL. Most my friends listen to ---- like this, and I want to download some stuff.

Check out At the Drive-In's Relationship in Command. You won't regret it. That and Basto's Diablo Guapo, oh and definitely Drive Like Jehu.

And I'll take a shot in the dark and say check out Husker Du's New Day Rising.

Oh, and definitely check out this stuff:

Gospel's The Moon Is A Dead World
    Orchid's Chaos Is Me
Envy's All The Footprints You've Ever Left And The Fear Expecting Ahead

    Pageninetynine's Document #8

And Swing Kids and Jerome's Dream.

Bands similar to Escape The Fate & FFTL :

    Chiodos (Good)
    Alesana (Good)
    Blessthefall (Horrible)
    Drop Dead, Gorgeous (Decent)
    Aiden (Absolutely horrendous)
    The Used (Not too bad)
    Silverstein (Decent)

I'd give you better bands, but you're looking for typical bands. And you shouldn't listen to this if you don't like it, just because you're friends do doesn't mean you should force your way in.

    These are bad recommendations.

Don't get me wrong, I love most bands you listed here. (Pg.99, At the Drive-In, Envy)

But these aren't for him. He's looking for more generic post-hardcore bands.

Hey, don't insult the man. XD Can't hurt to give it a shot, man. You never know what would happen. Pop in Relationship in Command and his whole musical view point on the crap like Escape the Fate and FFTL could change.

Can't hurt a guy for trying, right? Heh.

It was better than me saying "Give up. Now."

You can give better bands if you like. The two I said were just ones that popped into my head when I came to make the post.

And its not that its getting forced, I just hear it all the time and I am starting to like some of it.

There's more, if you do like those then it's a good start, then you can start getting into more abstract acts.

Really? I wouldn't know anyways. Besides, he asked for those types of bands.

And most of them are good, if not great.

I'll organize my list to a more straight forward, easy to read standpoint and add a few new ones:

At the Drive-In - Relationship in Command
    Bastro - Diablo Guapo
    Drive Like Jehu - Self-Titled
Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crime
Husker Du - New Day Rising
Gospel - The Moon is a Dead World
Envy - All the Footprints You've Ever Left and the Fear Expecting Ahead
    Pageninetynine (or Pg.99) - Document #8
    Jeromes Dream - Completed
    Swing Kids - Discography
City of Caterpillar - City of Caterpillar
    Cap'n Jazz - Analphabetapolothology

    Should keep you occupied. =)
