Need Help Setting Up Internet.

    ok so i got a enthernet cord feed running upto my computer in my room from our modem dock on our computer downstairs. it gets internet up there fine, so my dad gives me his old labtop.

    first thing i do, i run up plug the enthernet cord into the labtop and jump in bed (H).

    i start er up and it says somthing like running on two ips. and won't conect to the internet, while it works fine on my stationary computer that i have in my room.. :( help please

    and also i have the linksys wireless internet but i don't know how to set it up if someone would tell me that lol.

    Pleaseeee help lol.

    umm, look up the ip info on your computer

    control pannel->Network
    Right click local area network -> properties

    and then copy the stuff over onto your lappy.

    try plugging it in and resetting the modem by unplugging it, waiting 2 minutes, then plugging it back in

    Are you using a router? Are you using a switch? Cause if your using a switch, it would assign internal ips for each one of your system in the house. And if your connected to the modem directly then that could cause a problem with 2 computers sharing the same ip.
