I was wondering if 520W is going to be enough when I add in a few parts.

    Current setup:
    E6420 OC'd @ 3.0GHz @ 1.44V
    Asus P5N-E SLI
    e-VGA 7950 GT
    180GB SATA Hard Drive
    1 DVD R/W Drive
    1 CD R/W Drive
    Zalman CNPS9700
    1 120mm Case Fan
    1 80mm Case Fan
    Corsair 520W PSU
    2 x 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300

I plan to switch out the 7950GT w/ the eVGA e-GeForce 9800GTX+ SSC and switch out both memory sticks with OCZ 4GB PC2-6400. Plus i will be adding in a Seagate 500GB Hard drive.

So just wondering if i would need to replace my PSU if the above changes are made.

    -Thanks

consider an AMD HD 4850 over the 9800GTX.

    also 500W corsair GMV.

Any PSU over 500W should be fine, I don't know what to tell you about the GFX card, but I can assure you you won't be disappointed with the Seagate Hard Drive as it is what I am using now.

not quite true, there are some really cruddy units out there which are WAY overrated and shouldn't be trusted to more or less any system. 600W apevia... EWW...

so all in all, I'd say that the OP is probably fine with his current unit.

I would agree, I was not telling him to replace the current PSU as it will work, however what I was trying to express is PSU's are not ungodly expensive and it is usually best to err on the safe side.

it certainely is wisest to give yourself some headroom.

his system draws around 350-400W full load.

I think a 20% margin of error is sufficient.

    on a 400W unit I run

    c2d [email protected] 1.46V
    4GB RAM(four sticks)
    8800GTS 640mb
    3 harddrives
    1 DVD burner.

by self estimate, I'm pumping around 380-390W and this PSU is good for a peak load of around 420-440W
I'll need to get a new PSU if I plan any further upgrades myself, but Ghosn is fine for now. Come back when you decide to run dual cards or a dual GPU card.
