only if you pay enough to go dual core, he doesn't have that money. He's not gaming so he doesn't need the extra power under the hood, he just wants a bit more poerformance for general use. also, FYI AMDs numbering system lost it's accuracy past the 2700+. a 3500+ would be compareable to a 3.2GHZ P4. Again, AMDs biggest strength and advantage is it's power/heat consumption, or lack here of. AMD depending on how it is sed can be about 50% cheaper, but the dude wants a P4, there is nothing wrong WIth P4s, my friends latop has one it gets good FPS on HL2... bastard
AMD is just a different chip from intel. It still runs every program an intel runs. Its a better chip all round.
i would truely go with a p4.. in my day, i once had an amd, and it failed horribly... but that wasy years ago, i heard they are better now, but my friend has an amd, fairly new, and his computer has alot of problems with restarting for no reason, although its probably cuz of his old ram :\ i would go with intel, because i know itll work, plus, amd, when rearranged spells dam and mad lol...thats my 'analogy', but not really

Went to Intel when I got a new pc last year because of experience with them, the intel was alright not great. Finally I got my own pc with a XP 2600+ Barton and it ran awesome and still is. So my next processor I am going to get within this next month is an AMD X2. If your friends pc randomly restarts I would suggest getting new rm if its old and also a new power supply.
it was his ram, he took out one of his sticks and it works ok now and yea, i believe amd is better now, but i still go with intel
