Ok well basically I will be starting school in the fall and am going to be needing a laptop. However the computer I have right now is basically built for gaming but I have soon to stop playing games on the computer.

Anyways I need a laptop that is basically the best for three main things -

    Music
    Graphics (Photoshop, C4D, etc)
    School Work

Does anyone know a good either brand of laptop or even specific laptops that would be good for this? Also, remember I am not looking for the top of the line laptops, I just want something that is sufficient to run all of those...basically all at once. So much help would be appreciated!

These are the top 7 1gig RAM, 15.4" screen, 120-160MB of storage laptops.

First, comes the MacBook. Its lightweight, with good graphics and good average overall.

Next is the Toshiba Satellite A135, followed by the Dell Inspiron 6000, then the Acer TravelMate 8100, then the Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv4000, Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad R52, Compaq Presario M2000Z,

i don't know about thinkpad because, i have one right now that im using as i type. The one i have is an R40 and it is crap, my highschool supplied us with laptops that were donated by someone and i've had this one for about 4 years within those years that i've had it. I have had it repaired at least over 30 or more times.

The laptop i would suggest is sony vaio or toshiba satellite

Well technically I have no budget. The only way I am gonna be able to get a laptop is someone with financing and hopefully have them let me do monthly payments like Dell and some other places will do.

But basically I really would rather not go above $1,000 but might go a bit higher depending on the quality and features of the laptop.

Is this for high school or college? If its college, why not get a desktop? I was thinking about getting a laptop when I got out of high school and was getting ready for college. But once I got there I realized that would have been a mistake since my college has about 5 computer labs in each building and 5 computers in each lounge area. I really see no need for buying a laptop for school anymore

Im a guy that likes to upgrade everything a lot anyway.

EDIT: Here is a good one. Only thing I would do is make it 2GB of ram

if you go that route, install the RAM yourself and save the $120

I dont think Dell likes me very much though. Last time I tried they will not let me do monthly payments. And unfortunately I can not afford to pay up front.

Yes this is for college, but I would prefer a laptop with all the travelling I do and just for lots of reasons.

    Your pants eh?
i have a few friends who use macbooks and they are quite pleased with it.
They can photoshop, listen to music, and do their school work on it. Look into one of those if it isn't for gaming.
