Ok, I've had a lot of replies on a noob battle thread and I think these are a good way to try stuff out and get better at gfx. Therefor let's put together a battle for the inexperienced. This will be a multi-round tournament. Spots are open for the first 8 participants (7 after I sign up ^_^). Here are the requirements for entry. Experience: As it is hard to gauge skill level online I'll make it a post requirement. No member with more than 250 posts may participate (No penalty if a participant reaches 250 during the tournament). If you are an established artist, but a new member to the site please do not enter, this is for us noobs to refine our skills. Entry: For entry, all participants are to send me 3 creds. These creds will be used during the tournament (see end of tournament below) Winning prizes: All rounds will yield some winnings so to enter you must have enough to pay for AT LEAST your first round, in case you lose. (see below for prize structure) As well, here are the basic sig requirements: Size: 400x150 Animation: None Theme: To be chosen at random and posted when individual battles are added. Time Frame: Whenever pairings are posted, everyone will be PMed with their opponent and theme. you will have 48 hours to send your sig to me, and I will post the battle thread once both are recieved. In the case where I am one of the participants in the current battle, another member will be sent the sigs and start the battle. Tournament Structure: Swiss ok, to make sure everyone gets a good chance to make some creds and get some experience we will run this in what is called Swiss style. This means everyone will battle at least 4 rounds. All rounds will be 1 on 1. Round pairings will be done at random for round one and paired according to tournament format after that. Here's the breakdown: Round 1 - 5 points Pairings: Random Votes: 5 votes will decide winner. Winner will recieve 5 creds from his opponent upon winning the battle. Round 2 - 5 points Pairings: 4 round 1 winners paired at random against each other. other 4 participants paired at random. Votes: 5 Votes will decide winner Winner will recieve 5 creds from his opponent upon winning the battle. Round 3 - 5 points Pairings: 2 participants with 2 wins will battle. 2 participants with no wins will battle. 4 remaining participants will be paired at random. Votes: 5 Votes will decide winner Winner will recieve 5 creds from his opponent upon winning the battle. Round 4 - 7 points Pairings: Participant with 3 wins will sit out. Participants with 2 wins will have a 3 way bout. Participants with 1 win will have a 3 way bout. Participant with no wins sits out. Votes: 7 Votes will decide winner Winner will recieve 7 creds from his opponent upon winning the battle Final Round - 10 points Pairings: Winner of the 2 win 3 way bout will battle the 3 win sitout for the finals. Votes: 9 Votes will decide winner Winner will recieve 10 creds from his opponent upon winning the battle and will be the tournament winner. End of tournament: Remember that 3 cred entry? well those 24 creds will be divided up between the 4 lowest ranked participants as consolation prizes. After round 4 they will be divided as follows. player with 2-2 record will recieve 7 creds. Players with 1-3 records will recieve 6 creds each. Player with 0-3 record will recieve 5 creds. I think I covered everything. If you have any questions post them and the first 7 to post an entry request will be added to the list. Pairings, themes and deadlines will be posted soon thereafter. ill be number 2, but some pros have less than 250 posts...i htink you should have people post their three best works to see if they truly are noob. [edit:] if we are still going by post count i currently have 229, just in case i go over before you see this post.
That's why I added the adendum to that rule. I would hope that those people are mature enough to let us work on this. Just the same they could just pop out 3 weak sigs and send them. Anyways, that's 4 people, you'll be added to the list.
