Off-Topic: I have your adress! Jks On-Topic: No Myspace isn't dangerous, just the people who use it stupidly make it dangerous.
thats why all the people on my friends list on myspace i know from here and i always talk to them personally.
Bah, it's reports like this that get me so angry over people against Myspace. The thing is, people go and say "Oh, you can go and get stalked over MySpace" or, "You can buy drugs over it" It's just plain stupid. First off, the main reason that things like that happen is because the user willing gives away personal information. MySpace only really asks for your hometown, country, and (if you want) school. Additionally, people can't see your real name on your profile. Also, they never ask for your address. That being said... when you go and do a little profile survey, that's when people are basically handing their lives away. They say what school they go to, where they live, where they work.... Now, there's two reasons why events like said above happen: 1. Users go and accept people they don't know, just to get more friends (Yes, it's pretty pointless, but it happens) 2. Going with one, people additionally go and think that they're only talking to their close friends, so they go and leave their AIM SNs, their addresses.... even their cell phone numbers, thinking that the information will only be seen by their "friends" Just for the record, MySpace is just like anything else on the internet. Used properly, nothing will happen to you, but if you go and give away all your info on a PUBLIC profile thinking only two friends will see it, then you don't deserve to have a MySpace. Even worse is the fact that the media also labels the site as a venue for drugs, stalkers and other things. Once again, like everything else in the world, that doesn't happen all the time, and everyone on MySpace isn't like that. With me, I use it only to talk to friends that I know, either neighbors or people from school... nothnig else
I laugh at myspace, people from my school were getting bullied by other kids through em and the school has had like 40+ myspace websites deleted by phoning them.
Although I have a myspace I do think that it is unsafe. All you could find on mine is my name and a fake address I made up and posted to be safe. And all the friends that I have I know and can see on a regular basis (except over summer break).
If you're smart about that stuff, nothing will happen to you. Not to mention, the chances of you getting stalked and everything are slim to none. Sure, it happens but it isn't as big of an "epidemic" as people are making it out to be.
Trust me, if your this guy: give out all the personal information you want no ones gonna stalk you lol
People overreact to this kind of bs. There's a registered sex offender who did kiddie porn for 3 years through his site. and he lives 3 houses down from me. I spend 90% of my day on the internet, and I didn't even know he knew how to use the internet.
A lot of student athletes at my school were suspended for the season because some mom found pics of them drinking alcohol at a party. Even the kids that weren't drinking, and were just in the backgrounds of the pictures, got suspended. I don't pity them, though, because they're stupid enough to put pictures of themselves drinking on a public site.
Lol.... It all depends on what you make of it. If you put ALL your personal info.... J00 GONNA GET RAPED!!! lol if not....you wont...easy as that... so dont be a retard and post all your ----.
Depends. If you are smart enough to know how to use it in a way that wont have you off meeting ppl you dont know, sure. We just had a case at school where someone' s gone missing and its traced to their MySpace buddies being older guys or some crap like that.
