says my frequency is 200 Mhz, tho it is DDR 400 and my mobo is set for DDR 400. here is a link to my mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813185067 and my RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145440
The freq. is lowerd if you have more RAM slots in use. They must be twinmos to share the same freq. of mem.
lol im gonna explain this the best i can.... u bought cheap ram that isnt good for ocking.... it even says the max bandwidth is 200MHz on ur cpu-z picture.... and plus u didnt do anything wrong its like that stock, all PC3200 (DDR 400) ram is 200MHz stock.
lol np glad to help... i see ur point i would of thought the same thing in ur situation. EDIT: just re-read ur cpu-z thingy lol incase u read what i wrote the DDR400 does equal the 200MHz like i said but u CAN overclock it, i thought it said maxxed out at 200MHz.... lol go ahead and overclock it if u please..
check out my mobo, its a worthless pice of crap, i think it gives me a choice to overclock my cpu 200 Mhz, but i just dont need to, nor do i want to shorten the life of my hard ware. highly doubt it has a choice for OCing RAM, ill check later.
if you overclock the ram your overclock your cpu. YOu wont shorten the life if you dont increase the volts much. But hey, its a p4, its life is already shortened by the fact they always run hot.
you'de be surprised at how much intel tosses at their procs. they are surprisingly heat resistent... hence the performance /price ratio.. the money HAS to go somewhere, otherwise I'd be investing in Intel.
I dont quite understand what you are saying xelink. They only made their processors more heat tollerant than amds because they run 15C higher than amds.
intel puts a horrific amount into processor design and into their matterials. their design teams are over 10 times as large as AMDs(and also 10 times less effectively organized) and they spend a phenominal amount on their silicone, hence why they've always been good OCers(albiet you can't OC a P4 for ---- unless you have insane cooling, but it's still stable at even their higher temps) there are people getting PXEs to over 5ghz(again on the phenominal cooling)
Huh, I always thought PC3200 AKA DDR400 was running at 400Mhz stock, kinda confused but stlp explained, thx
