stay away from bevels and outerglows where first starting

also stay away from putting a big render in the template that goes outside the banner, doesn't make it look very proffesional.

also use lorem ipsum for all your content text as it does not distract the viewers attention from the template itself :)

it looks pretty decent for your first.. but like essence said: NEVER USE BEVELS! It ruins your template..

it probably wont's stay there.. but please remember.. use pixelfonts at a small size.. not larger than 10/11

it would also be nice if you'd make some nbuttons

The render is to big, its very distracting and doesnt look good. Try to make the borders near the render follow the lines of the render and not like the border at his left foot, its to straight lined.
Also I dont like the way that the render overlaps some borders, while being behind other borders and sometimes cuts through borders.

Its a good try for first template though

bevel is a must stay away from period when it comes to web design, rather than using bevel its often better to use an inner shadow (if you want to highlight one area), or inner glow.

And whoever said there was too much inner/outer glow, i can show you a few of my templates that have sold for a pretty penny that all use inner/outer glow, so there is not too much lol

I don't like it. It's too big and you have untastefully used the inner glow setting.
