Hi there, I'm going to buy a new PC for myself soon. It's because I cant play my games normal here, it lags, even on low resolution. And if i want to upgrade, I would have to upgrade mobo, so videocard, so procesor etc. Its just not worth it. This pc will be for my brothers then. I get it from my local dealer in the netherlands (euro's) This is my build so far: Case: +/- €70, Cooler Master Cavalier noPSU zilver or Aspire X-Plorer-BK Black MOBO: €214/ €189 MB ASUS INTEL S775 P5W DH Deluxe ATX or MB ASUS INTEL S775 P5WD2-E PREMIUM ATX CPU: +/- €325 Intel E6600 core2 duo 2.40 4Mb 1066 (Preorder) GPU: 2x €180 ASUS PCI-e 256Mb EN7600GT/2DHTV x2 RAM: Totally not sure: G.SKILL 2048MB PC2-800 CL5 (Kit) F2-6400PHU2-2GBNS (€200) HDD: HDA WD 320Gb 16Mb SATA II WD3200KS Maybe a raptor late(not availible atm) PSU: Thermaltake PSU TWV 500W W0057 (€97) or Antec TruePower2.0 TPII-480PEC Blue (€104) TFT: ACER 19'' AL1916Ws Widescreen LCD 8MS (210) DVD: BenQ DVD RW DW1655 blck Lightscribe Cooling: Scythe Ninja Heatpipe for all Intel P4 & AMD K8 ZERO dB WITH 120MM FAN or Zalman CNPS9500-Cu S478/775/754/939/940 Revoltec Northbridge Freezer kit Blue (5) Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (5) total is about 1700:2 =850 for me, is fine. Any suggestions?
humm, everything looks allright for the most part and you can't really go "wrong" here's what i would say, don't buy the absolute most expensive ram out there. sure it makes OCing a little easier, but the performance diference is minimal, unnoticeable on benchmarks for that reason if you want to save money... G.SKILL 2048MB PC2-800 CL5 (Kit) F2-6400PHU2-2GBNS (€200) also remember that even though S. Skill is a great company they aren't always the best, look around into other companies like OCz and Mushkin to see if they offer compareable products cheaper. 7900GT vs x1900XT... the 1900 is definately a high performaer and a cgood OCer almost as good as the 7900 GTX on stock... how much is the x1800XT though? you should be able to CO the diference if needed and the x1800 is close to $150-200 cheaper(in america) for crossfire, you'de need a CF compatable motherboard power supply: i know you guys get f'ed over on the pricing for these... I've looked around. I recall seeing that in the UK, Tagan was relatiely cheap, Takan makes excellent product. CPU cooling: see how far you can get on stock, get a new HSF only if really needed.
See what you can do on a stock HS because that isn't needed untill a bit later. You should get the performance you are looking for with a stock.
x1900XT costs 50% more... I'll admit it has higher potential, but you'de need a new card around the same ime for both... EDIT: just checked prices on newegg, x1800XT is up 20, 7900GT down 30ish... performance/$ wise about the same now... given that I'd go for the 7900GT over the x1900 though... or perhaps two 7600GTs in SLi... in fact, I'd probably go for two 7600GTs in SLi myself given the price and what you're willing to spend. You could likely get by on a moderate PSU, I know nothing baout the boards you have picked out though... remember not even every 975 chipset works with conroe because intel is full of greedy -------s... on sale, you can get two 7600GTs for about the same price as one 7900GT...
The problem here is, most parts are overpriced here. I tried to look in the store (the closest company to my home is Xpansion.nl) they sell the x1800xt but its more expensiver then the 1900xt. Its so wierd. Do you mean the 256 or 512 mb version? Will 2 7600GT's in SLI (its about the same price as the 1900xt) beat it? Wont it be better to get a 1900xt and a second one later? For the ram, I'll think I go for the G.Skill 2gb cl5 kit because it gives you a lifetime warrenty, and OCZ doesn't do. Only 24monts. On the mobo, on Asus'site: They say of both motherboards, 2x 16 PCI express. 8x8 in crossfore mode. So it should support crossfire, right? Now im not sure about the card itself, Do I have to get 2 special crossfire card, or can I do it with every ati card? Or do I need to get one normal and and one crossfire card? I just want to know this for later. About the PSU, should I get a less expensiver one? Everything that I save I can spend on something else better. Or will the Thermaltake be fine?
two 7600GTs will beat a x1900XTX or 7900GTX by a moderate amount, not a huge amount but a fairly moderate amount. the problem with, get one now and get another later is that new hardware comes out by the time you'de want to get the next one... an classic example is the 6600GT scenario... you could have bought a 6600GT for 300$ a year ago... then around december the 7800GT was out... adding another 6600GT cost 1250$ give or take, while a 7800GT was as low as $260 and outperformed two 6600GTs in SLI using less power, so the wise descision woudl have been to sell your 6600GT(say for between 100-150) and tog et such said 7800GT, cross fire isn't as bad about this since you can mix and match, but what's to say that the radeon X2k series is compatable in crossfire witht he x1k series? we dont' know yet. also past 128mb of vram it doesn't matter worth a damn. 256mb is sufficient for all current needs and by the time you need more, the actual core on the GFX card wouldn't even be capable of handling the game well.
then why doesnt he just get one 1900xt now, and if he needs another, he can get a second 1900xt (saying the 1'k series isnt compatable with the 2'k series.) This is much more upgradable then getting 2 7600's, because you can not mix and match with SLi (meaning when you want to upgrade video cards, you will have two extra video cards that wont be as much money seprate if/when you go to sell them...
becuase in a year or two the r600 or its sucessor will outperform two in CF at a cheaper cost... remember, it's possible to sell of a set of cards realtively easily, or just a single card, ad to buy the latest/greatest. trust me when I tell you something from personaly experience, there is no such thing as future proof. My opteron isn't future proof, my 7800GT isn't future proof, and it would be stupid for me to go out and buy another for SLi at this moment. Any thoughts of upgrading this or that later are foolish, get bang/$ right now and worry about the future when needed. Look at all the people who bought P4EEs... look at all those who went and dropped 500$ on a 5900ultra(which is right now outperformed by the 6600[and I don't mean GT]) there is no such thing as future proof in the computer industry, BANG/$ is all that matters and I realised this the hardway, if I could do it voeragain, my system would cost a bit less in a few areas.
HMm, I'll think about it, are you sure that the r600 will use PCI-E x16? The 7600GT is around 180 here so 2x 180=€340 around the same price as a 7900GT. I still need help on the mobo, I think the lower costed one is good enough for me. It has 2 PCI 16x but it says it'll use 8x8 mode in crossfire, will it also for in SLi (if its even capable of SLi) in 8x8 or 16x16? ANd yes its compatible with conroe: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...mpatible+boards
why not get 7900gt that would beat the 78oo unless u really want crossfire or sli something like this Merged Post: why not get 7900gt that would beat the 78oo unless u really want crossfire or sli something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130016
Yes but as xelink said, I cant buy 2 of them now, so if I only buy one, and spend it, by the time I got the money, newer and better things will be availible. I dont need to play Fear on 4xAA, and 16x AS. I only want to play my games normal and the future games on normal. And I'm sure I can do a few years with two 7600GT'sI read a review about the 7600GT SLI: http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/326/20/ @ xelink, they dont really beat but they are the best bang / $ for me. I'm still thinking of going with 2 7600GTs. I still need to choose the mobo... edit: damn its conroe-patible but its crossfire, not sli. I hope they'll release the LP UT NF590 SLI-T2R/G or the ASUS P5N32-SLi SE I'll have to wait 'till those are out I thinnk.
i stand corrected, I recall hearing ti did outperform it though... i knwo for certain it outdoes a single 7900GT thouh...
Okay, I'll have to wait for the nForce 5 SLi mobo's, 'till they are out, or get ati card, which im probably not going to get. Thanks for all your support so far. Everyone has been repped.
