ditch the soundcard, the onboard sound on highend boards is ebtter than that of lowend soundcards.

    c2d > athlon x2
and phenom is looking iffy(but it's launching in like week so that can be tentative, but it sounds like it's going to be a soft launch since AMD's manufacturing capacity is stretched to the limit for the time being and yields are supposedly low on pheom)
if you go c2d then e6550 + Abit IP35 is a good choice for CPU/board. If you're not overclocking, then opt for a fast CPU such as an e6750

the RAM is overpriced and iffy as well. Kingston tends to switch ICs a lot, they're likely using really cheap chips in that kit.

that's been my RAM recommendation for a while. Dirt cheap and uses the same type of chips found in DDR2-1066. And I can tell you for a fact that those sticks are almost guaranteed to do DDR2-1200 within warranty, or at the very least DDR2-800 with really tight timings(which is better IMO).

PSU has poor voltage regulation. Better to get a PSU with superb voltage regulation and puts out really good clean power than a mediocre one which is rated higher. FYI I'm willing to bet that your system uses around 350-400ish W under load. I'd suggest this one, it's the same unit Sivlerstone uses in their 500W SSTF PSU but it's a bit cheaper.

    Either that or this

both of which are supberb units

the PSU you chose can hardly handle one highend card yet alone two. SLI realistically needs a 600W+ high quality PSU
on top of that SLI is a gimmick. unless you're buying the two fastest cards out and at the same time it's a waste.

EG, in 2004 you could have gotten a 6600GT 256mb for $250, then a second one later for $100. for a total of 350. Or you could have sold the first one, for $70 and bought a 7800GT for $250 for a total of $280. The latter scenario would have yielded more performance for less money.

in 2005 you could have bought a 7800GT for $250 and then a second one for $200. Or you could have sold the first for $150 and bought an x1900XT for $350.

in 2006 you could have bought an x1900XT for $350 and then another one later for $300. or you could have sold the x1900XT for $250, and bought an 8800GTX for $550.

basically SLi is marketing BS. It's designed to help nVidia and ATi sell more of their top cards and to help them sell their old cards when they are crap an out of production.

again don't buy crap PSUs. That rosewill is rated 500W peak power and chances are it can't sustain past 400W or so while giving clean current. The ones I listed are rated for sustainable power and they're technically underrated at that. Quality> quantity with PSUs.

there's a reason why the PSU
