Ok, what i did was i set the active drive to the D: (HP_RECOVERY), thinking this would reset my pc to factory settings, however when i boot up my PC it wont start it just says it needs an installation disk, this prob due to the fact y D: was probli wiped. So how do i change my active drive back to C: ????

I would suggest going to PCWorld.com and asking them, or try googling it. If worse comes to worse, you might need to call HP, which will suck. I had to call HP once and I coould barely undertsand what the hell the guy was saying.

When you say you set it to the active drive, do you mean you set it as first boot priority in the BIOS?

Probably because its a restore partition, not a boot partition.

Pretty sure a linux live CD could allow you to boot into C drive.

Go to your BIOS, and change the boot settings.
