A nice first try - but the lighting is bad and its a little choppy on the wings.

Explain the lighting please, and how do you curve a line with the Pen tool, and have the next line go straight??

You should try saving it as a .png so you wont have the white background and maybe you can tell how good it is. It does look a bit choppy on the wings though.

EDIT: The white background must be my computer, so I cant tell how good the rest of the render is.

Good job; can't picture it being usable in a sig, rather a wallpaper.

    Nice for yer first!

By lighting they mean the original picture has light on the render, which can kind of ruin it. To make a curve line click and hold on what you're cutting, don't release, then just move it around. Depending on how far out the line goes from the curvy point will show you the arc the next one will make. After doing a curvy line it will continue the next one from the middle of the one of the liens.
