EDITED after comments from all. See what you think now.

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400(not really going to multi-task, just heard that Oblivion and newer games will make use of dual core)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103546
    $458.00

    Video Card - x1900xt
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814195002
    $500

Mobo - DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D ATX
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136152

    RAM -
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820220040
    $201.05

That is mostly what people want to know, but I have gotten requests in other forums for the following:

    Power Supply -
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103931
    $90

    or

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817711001
    $209

Which PSU?!?! I don't really want to spend the extra money if the cheaper one is sufficient.

    HD -
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....&Subcategory=14
    $281

    Case -
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811133154
    $144.99

    cd/dvd drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827135136
    $25

Also, do I need this? I heard the heatsinks that come with the X2 are good, but they are loud. My friend said he always found that heatsinks bought are better than the ones that come with the processor.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835118115
    $62

There. If you need anything else, just say so, and I will add it to this post.

Oh, and I don't plan on OCing.

Good build. Finally someone with the sense they need a decent psu brand.
However I dont know why you opted for a cheap motherboard, that I have not personally seen before. Try this one -
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136152

Its $40 more expensive but probably the best board going around at the moment.

I actually didn't pick the motherboard. My friend helped me with that, so I don't know why he picked that one. If I get more good reviews about that DFI Lanparty however, I will choose it instead.

Oh, and about the PSU, yea I do have enough sense to get a good brand. I was also referred to this one though, tell me what you think:

I don't really want to spend the extra money if the other one is sufficient.

if you want to OC, swap the ram and the proc.
    G, Skill Extreme 2*1GB DDR500 3-4-4-8(or lower)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021

Opteron 170 (you should be able to get it to 2.5-2.6Ghz easy, maybe higher)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103586

or opteron 175 (should be able to get it pretty high as well, higher than the 170)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103584

if you are OCing, you will probably want the better HSF, but if yu aren't don't bother.

if you don't want to OC, try this stuff it's cheaper after rebate and has pretty good latencies.
    Patriot Ram 2*1GB DDR400| 2-3-2-5 at 1T
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820220040

FYI: the opterons perform more or less identically to the regular athlon X2s.

Also, you might want to get a cheaper case and insteed spend the money on a FASTER hardrive
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822144160
that drive will have early or over double the performance in many applications. I'm getting the 150 gig version which is even faster...

Hardrives are the slowest part of your computer FYI... increasing HDD speed will speed almost everything up.

if you don't plan on OCing, then definately get that partiot Ram, after rebate it's cheaper, before rebate it's cheaper. It also has the same timings.

you also won't need that zalman HSF if you aren't OCing, you should be more than fine with stock.

as I said before, get a cheaper case, you can get a case with about the same quality airflow for about 80$ less.

invest the money you'd save on that into something usfull like that raptor I showed or better yet, the almight WD1500 which is the version above it.

Also, unless you want Windows XP Pirated Edition, you should plan on buying an OS.

I would recommend goin with a sata seagate hdd w/NCQ technology. The 7200rpm drive is just as fast as the 10,000 rpm drives and a whole lot cheaper and quieter. Its what I use now.

You can read up on this whole idea here.

And you can order the drives from here. They range from 36g to 250g.

that article is two years old and the 72gig raptor has that as well, atleas tit does now.

I swear, you work for seagate ro something, they make good drives, but they don't make the highest performance ones at this time. I beleive Hitachi makes the fastest 7200rpm drives as well.

    fastest non-SCSI drive there is.

Well I dont know who offers what today. I have been thru sooo many drives, most brands. It was jus a suggestion as I didnt notice this type of drive on the list above and I am speaking from my own personal experiance. I bought mine just a few months ago from newegg. Its nice to hear that others are doing it now too. I wonder if one is cheaper than the other.

I have a seagate as well and I am very pleased with it, but there is no point in getting what you recomended over what he chose already if he's worried about drive speeds. a seagate like that would make a very good secondary storage drive.

yeah, definally a cheaper case. i like my aspire x-plorer gaming case, came with a 400 watt power supply that you could just have as a backup for whatever and its $75. plus, i dont like how big the case is....

bah, im just finished checking a newegg, the got a x-plorer with no psu for $58.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144102

    Merged Post:

oh yeah, for a good extra hard drive, seagates are good for that. go to your nearest circuit city, i got a 160 GB seagate for $110 with a $70 mail-in rebate, making it $40. good buy in my opinion. if you take this advice, be sure to check curcuitcity.com and see if they still got the rebate before you go to buy one.

Ok, so many people have said get a new case, that is cheaper. My friend had said that case because of the two 120mm fans, and it should have good airflow. But since I should probably get a cheaper case, can someone recommend one that has some good airflow? Thx.

Also, don't forget to comment on any changes in my first post.
