Samsung Blackjack Review
[IMG]

Manufacturer: Samsung
Model: Samsung BlackJack
Screen Size: 2.2 inch
Screen Resolution: 320 by 240 pixel
Dimensions: 4.4 x 2.3 x .05 in
Weight: 3.5 ounces
Memory: 64 MB
Communications: Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA
Processor: 220 MHz TI OMAP1710
OS: Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphones

An old phone, but still looking good in my books.

The slim, sleek, and sexy Samsung Blackjack is certainly a top of the line cellular phone by Samsung. It comes with a full QWERTY keypad perfect for texting and other keypad needs, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and to top it all off, Windows Mobile 5.0, with MANY features included.

Design-
The design of the Samsung Blackjack is excellent for business uses or if you're an avid texter. Equipped with a full keypad perfect for texting or surfing the internet. On the right side you'll find a scroll wheel and a back button, excellent for internet use, and a microchip slot, for extra memory. The only negative I can think of from the design part is that the keys are a bit small.
Overall, the design gets a cool 8/10.

Features-
The Samsung Blackjack comes installed with Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition, with a real nice picsel viewer, and many other cool applications. It has a very nice organizer section, for you very busy people, including; alarms, a calculator, notepad, stopwatch, tasks, voice notes, world clock, and 2 cool features you may not find in many other phones, smart converter (which I find VERY useful), and a d-day app, that lets you keep track of how many days are left until important dates. The only huge negative I can see about the organizer section is the calculator. The calculator on the Blackjack is so complicated, it took me 3 months after getting the phone to find the multiply button.
The Samsung Blackjack comes with Outlook Mobile, which should be familiar to its desktops counterpart. Caller and photo ID are included.
The Blackjacks battery life is not quite the battery life you'd want from a smartphone, though it comes with an extended battery as an option, it makes the phone very bulky.
The Blackjack comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera, which will be included later in my review.
Windows Media Player 10 is a real nice feature to include, which works well with videos added from a USB cable that comes with the Blackjack, and even videos downloaded from the internet.
Internet Explorer is another good feature of the Blackjack, with decent loading speed. Its full keypad allows you to surf the internet with ease. It can get annoying scrolling down a large page on a cell phone screen, but that is a fact you'll have to face with all cell phones, and it lacks WiFi.
As for the features, I would have to say a 9/10 is a fair score for the Samsung Blackjack.

Camera-
The Samsung Blackjacks camera is a decent looking 1.3 megapixel shot. If you want a great camera phone, this is not the phone for you. It also comes with a camcorder, with a larger resolution than most phones. That audio for the camcorder is not as loud as you'd want it to be.
The camera for the Samsung Blackjack gets a 6/10 from me.

Performance-
The Samsung Blackjack has a slightly quicker processor than most smartphones around, and at some times, you can notice it too. The Blackjacks application launcher has been constructed so that the scroll wheel on the side works with it also. If you hold down the dial, a quick launch menu will come up. You can really customize the quick launch menu, and place shortcuts to almost any application, files, and folders, which is a big advantage if you like to get things done quickly.
The audio is surprisingly, very well on this phone. With the acception of the camcorder audio, everything else is loud and clear, including the calls that are made. The reception of this phone is excellent, I was actually surprised how much better it was, compared to my all of my old phones.
I'll give the performance an 8/10.

Overall-
The Samsung Blackjack is a great phone. I got mine for only fifty dollars, with a 2 year plan, and it is WELL worth it. They can usually range around 50 through 150 dollars, or even free with an agreement from some cell phone providers. If you have the chance to buy this phone for a lower price, do it. I do not recommend this phone for people who want an easy to use phone, this is not for you. Overall, this gets an 8/10

What are you talking about; I've had a blackberry & no matter how much you fanboys want to try to change my oppinion. I still say that the Blackberry Curve and Blackberry Pearl SUCK. I am however waiting on the new blackberry to be released in 4Q (I Hope) but intill then a device like a Blackjack (2) is much better.
