maybe you better tell us what you have done... it's alot easier top pinpoint when we know what you have tried..

Have you double clicked on your volume icon to get volume control and made sure nothing is set to mute?

are you sure you have the right drivers? right click my computer, click properties.

go to the hardware pane, click on device manager.

any question marks or exclamation points??

what is the make and model of your sound card?

Are his speakers plugged in, holy ----, what a question to ask.

could be your sound driver, not sure. go to Run -- type dxdiag and do some testing/wutever under the 'Sounds' tab.

The wire on your speakers may have broken on the inside. It's really annoying when this happens cause it's hard to tell. It may be turning on and off cause sometimes it's touching and sometimes it's not.

is this onboard sound? if not take the card out and reinsert it.

you could also try to uninstall the drivers, then reinstall it.
