    Well here we go, and here are the tutorials:

    1) HTML BASICS
    2) CUSTOM 404 PAGES
    3) AUTOMATIC PAGE REDIRECTION CODE
    4) NO DIRECT LINKING

    -----------------------
    HTML BASICS
    -----------------------

    Basic HTML is a must know type thing in towards world of web development, and today your going to take your first step into that realm of knowledge with this basic HTML skills tutorial.

    Now listen closely...

    HTML pages are usually made up of this:

    Code:
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body
    </html>
    Now when it comes to coding pages, you should know the basics for links and inserting images along with aligning opjects in your paragraphs.

    First, to insert a line space insert a:

    Code:

    And then for aligning objects insert:

    Code:
    <p align="(center, left, right, justify)">
    And basic links are:

    Code:
    [url="ADDRESS"]Title For Link[/url]
    To make a link using a picture do this:

    Code:
    [url="ADDRESS"][img]LOCATION OF IMAGE ON THE WEB[/img][/url]
    Now that you know that basics you should know about headers, and basic coloring of text... to do this...

    Headers:

    Headers are basically a preset text size which is applied to your basic text, to do a header you can enter in:

    Code:
    <h1>TEXT HERE</h1>
    <h2>TEXT HERE</h2>
    <h3>TEXT HERE</h3>
    <h4>TEXT HERE</h4>
    <h5>TEXT HERE</h5>
    Now that code is for 5 different types of headers, each with a different text size and set of properties, you can experiment with them if you want.

    Now to coloring text, and basic text font selection and sizes...

    Font sizes are set to 7 different levels, so never insert the basic 10point or 72 point on your pages, since it will not really work the way you want.

    Text is set up like this:

    1 = 8 pt
    2 = 10 pt
    3 = 12 pt
    4 = 14 pt
    5 = 18 pt
    6 = 24 pt
    7 = 36 pt

    Text set up is simple, here is a basic HTML code that you can use to change your text to a specified font:

    Code:
    <font face="NAME OF FONT">TEXT HERE</font>
    Now to do more complex text edits, here is a long string of code on how to change your texts color, size, and face, but before I show you that, take a look at the basic colors you have for choice...

    Now here is what the basic colors are:

    Red = #CC1502
    Blue = #3337E5
    Green = #91C90B
    Yellow = #F3CD33
    Black = #000000
    Grey = #808080
    White = #FFFFFF

    Now that you know those codes, lets apply it...

    I will demonstrate a basic string of code with the font face selected as verdana, size as 8 pt and the color as black.. seem simple enough? For many it isn't but lets change that now...

    Code:
    <font face="verdana" color="#000000" size="1">TEXT HERE</font>[code]

    Now that you have that covered, lets make a test page using what we have learned... shall we?

    [code]
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>TEST PAGE</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <p align="center">
    <font face="verdana" color="#FFFFFF"><h1>TEST</h1></font>

    <font face="verdana" color="#FFFFFF" size="1">TEST PAGE</font>

    [url="http://www.mark-hamilton.com"][img]http://www.mark-hamilton.com/link.jpg[/img][/url]
    </body>
    </html>
    But before I go I thought I would leave you with a quick tip to inserting a copyright notice on your site, now most people don't know the actual way to type it, they just put © but now you can find out how.. and the way to do it is:

    Hold down CTRL+ALT and hit C.

    Or:

    Hold down ALT and hit 0169 on your number pad (right side of keyboard)

    Enjoy!

    More tutorials on HTML coming soon...

    -----------------------
    BASIC CUSTOM 404 PAGE
    -----------------------

    Well, eventhough cPanel does it for you, here is a helpful tip...

    To create your own custom 404 page, just create a page and then set it up the way you would want your 404 page to look like, and then upload it to your web server as 404.html (you can always customize this tutorial for your specifications, but this is a simple way of doing this)...

    Now that you have that page uploaded to your web server, just open up notepad (start>my programs>accessories>notepad) and then put the following text into it (remember to change the domain name in it to yours):

    Code:
    ErrorDocument 404 [url]http://www.domain.com/404.html[/url]
    Now make sure you save that as .htaccess (MAKE SURE THERE IS NO .txt extension on it otherwise it will not work - just click All Files under the extension tab when saving the file). Now upload that .htaccess document to your server, and remember to change the domain in it to YOURS.

    Now that you have it done, test it out... type in a link to a non excistent page off of your site and see your custom error page in action!

    If you have something else in your .htaccess file already just put this code under it.

    -----------------------
    AUTOMATIC PAGE REDIRECTION CODE
    -----------------------

    Well, I got a few requests for this one, so here is how you do it...

    Take this code:

    Code:
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="SECONDS;URL=PAGEURL">
    And paste it into your <head> section. Change the bit that says SECONDS to the number of seconds you want it to be until it auto redirects, and then chanage the PAGEURL text to whatever you want it to redirect you to after the time you specified.

    Enjoy!

    -----------------------
    NO DIRECT LINKING
    -----------------------

    Well, I got a lot of requests for this too...

    And here it is...

    People sometimes get annoyed when someone is directly linking some of their images on their site, but you can change that now, so that if someone does that you can make sure they don't do it again.

    Open up notepad (start>all programs>accessories>notepad)...

    And then insert this into it:

    Code:
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://WWW.YOUR-SITE.COM/.*$ [NC]
    RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg)$ [url]http://URLOFIMAGE.jpg[/url] [R,L]
    You should change the bit that says http://WWW.YOURSITE.com to your sites URL. And then the URLOFIMAGE.jpg to the URL of the image you want to get displayed instead when a person tries to direct link.

    Well, after you have configured that .htaccess file just save it and upload it to your server. Once that is done, anyone direct linking from your site will experience a little bit of anger and will learn a valuable lesson, don't eat up my bandwidth... beotch.

    Enjoy, but be warned, if your hosting sigs or something like that its not recommended that you do this.

    Also, forgot to mention, if you already have something your .htaccess file just add this under it.

    -----------------------

    I hope you enjoyed those!

    I figured you would say that, haha, but who cares about people who already know it, its for the guys passing buy looking for a good tutorial on HTML that is easy to understand and covers the basics.

    And $10 says that no one knew how to make that copyright symbol without going to insert > symbols > copyright. Hell I didn't know how to do that until like last year when I decided to learn all the keyboard short cuts for windows.

    Speaking of windows if you play the disk backwards you hear satanic messages, but thats nothing if you play it forwards it installs windows.

    And dude, I am not gonna pay $10 it was a figurative bet since no one took on to it before hand. And most people are lying when they say they already knew it since most people don't know it.
