The Metal Gear Solid movie would definitely fit more than a Splinter Cell movie. MGS is WAY more exciting as a movie adaption, honestly, seeing as how Kojima himself and his production team is correlating with the movie production team on the movie. It has a less chance to stray away and become complete and utter crap like Street Fighter, Doom, Mortal Kombat 2, Resident Evil, and a lot LOT more.
