I needed a new mobo./. have 110 to spend, and decided to go with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16813130082R so i can get a gig of ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145573 the ram was not needed, but for the price of the mobo, why not get it... is there anything i need to know before getting a open box?
umm before you rush off and buy that mobo look at its PCIe 16x slots for 2 of them running SLI its only half the performance...... this is the reason its cheaper. Also its OEM meaning it has none of the needed cables and that is extra money for them this is a bit more pricey but it theres room for expansion.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813127022 EDIT And btw open box means someone else has opened it and resent it back to the manufacturer to be refurbished.... it only has a 15 day warrantee and may not include everything that is needed
yea i know, i dont or will use SLI... i have ati anyway... also i already have all the cables that mobo looks nice, but i only have 125 on a prepaid credit card btw the only thing im worried about is that i read a review about the regular non open box one.. someone was having trouble with the pentium D 805, which is what i have. the mobo supports it but the guy said he got troubles with it, and not with his c2d. and if it is not working, will i be able to return it
when you recieve it you only have 15 days after that to return it before newegg will cancel your warrantee so you need to do it pretty quick
go for it. as for ti being only PCI-e 8x, ehh yes it hurts performance in theory, but when PCI-e 4x doesn't perform that much worse than PCi-e 16x I don't think it matters a ton with PCI-e 8x if you do decide to go SLI. Merged Post: he already has cables and if he doesn't they're less than $5, the only thing that the OEM setups lack are SATA cables(and perhaps IDE) and as I said, WHO CARES about PCI-e bandwidth? just OC the PCi-e bus solves most of the problem... research has shown that SLI performs better on intel boards with hacked drivers @ 8x than on nVidia baord @ 16x so I don't think bandwidth matters on ton in that regard. Also it can still do 16x with only one card.
i ordered it..now im just afraid it wont accept the Pent. D 805 like some guy said.. and I also hope only my mobo was hurt during that standoff accident. is it possible something else got hurt too maybe?
