DO NOT NOTE YOUR SYSTEMS SPECIFICATIONS SOLELY BY GHZ. GHZ ALONE DO NOT EQUATE PERFORMANCE
FOR FUTURE REFERENCE LIST YOUR FULL SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS.
this can be found by downloading CPUz or by going to the start menu and running "dxdiag"

Some people believe that the only thing that matters on a computer is the GHz the processor runs at. This is not entirely true

What matters is GHz * performance at a certain task.
some processors simply do more work with fewer Hz.

For this reason, stating that you have a 2.4GHz processor does not give anyone here any information to help you

    examples -

    GR's Super Pi Thread.
The top competitor has a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo. This processor completed the task in 15 seconds. A 2.8GHz Pentium 4 took nearly 5 times as long.

very basic explanation - it's a movie don't freak out

Ranking of CPUs by performance/Hz 1998-present
    Core 2 - VERY high performance/Hz
    Athlon 64 - high performance/Hz
Pentium M/Core 1 - high performance/Hz VERY comparable to athlons
    Semrpon(64) - somewhat high performance/hZ
    Celeron M - somewhat high performance/hZ
    Semrpon(XP) & Athlon XP - somewhat high performance/hZ
Athlon thunderbird - somewhat high performance/hz not as high as the athlon XPs
Pentium 3(coppermine and later) - somewhat high performance/hz slightly lower than the athlon thunderbirds
    Pentium 4(northwood) - average performance/Hz
Pentium 4(prescott and derivitives) - average performance/Hz, moderately slower than northwood
    Celeron© - acceptable performance/Hz
    Pentium 4(willmatte) - acceptable performance/Hz
    Celeron D - somewhat low performance/Ghz
