i used to do thai kwon do that was a lot of fun the one i used to go to used to do like an hour thai kwon do and a hour self defence
It really depends on what kind of things your hoping to learn by taking martial arts. If your wanting to take it because you just want to kick peoples butts, dont bother. If your wanting to take it because it looks cool, well thats a fine and dandy reason, but bare in mind the amount of dedication and hard work that goes into the training. Those two reasons aside. Theres quite a few different styles out there. I don't think I couldn't even begin to list them all. I've been training in Taekwondo (there different variations of it no less), kempo, jujitsu, and grappling for over ten years now. I started way back in elementary school when I saw my neighbors father training one day. Its a great way to build up self confidence, self esteem and general respect for yourself, as well as others around you. Then there is the obvious healthy affect on your body from all the time you spend training to prepare for competitions (if your one of those that enjoy competing, I always did). I would attend classes three times a week, either as a student, or an assistant instructor. Each class would be two hours long starting with your basic warmups and stretches, moving through our forms and self defense techniques, sparring, reflexes (always fun to dodge tennis balls being thrown at you), then we would usually close out class with line sprints. On the days I wasnt attending classes, I had to go over my forms, my self defense steps, and the general execution of my moves in general to make sure I remembered them for when promotions came around. All that being said, hopefully that gives you some sort of an idea of what to expect if you wish to make it a serious life hobby. I suggest doing research on the many various styles out there. If your looking for some sort of specific fighting, whether it be fighting mainly done on the ground through holds, weaponless fighting, or fighting that incorporates weaponary. I'm not an expert, far from it, but have been a lover of many martial arts for some time now. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a pm and I will see if I can help you. Oh also as a side note, some schools have introductory courses where you can take like two weeks worth of classes to see if its something you like or not, thats something to consider. Hopefully this has helped you some.
theres no street fight club lol.......................but there are groups of ppl who enjoy fighting and take it to a professional level but theres the stupidity level because if im correct its illegal and well i know its dangerous that dont mind leaving you there unconcious

That is mainly what i want to get out of it, im usually ---- scared when people come at me, even if it is friendly taps to the face and mucking around, i dived into a pool and came up and didnt realize i was so close to the wall and smashed my front tooth in half, kind of scared of someone accidently punching me in the face and breaking it again... even though i have broken it twice since the accident Thanks for the great post, that i what i wanted to hear
for all of u who dont know its taekwondo ive done it for 6years almost and it teaches u mental disiplince and physical disiplince as well muay thai is also very good my bro did it for 4 years hes 25 now im thinking of learning sum of that as well its very useful and it has good tecniques but taekwondo teaches self denfence and offence which is very useful and other attacks etc.
ive been taking Ju Jit Su for about muay thai for about 3 1/2 years now it is very good for self confidence you should work out and train at muay thai though becuase when sparring you feel almost unstopable and ive only been in 1 fight since starting my training and i beat the hell out of the dude i really recommend taking it or at least some other type of martial art
