Marketplace Bump Button

I have seen a lot of people posting in the marketplace posting again and again just for bumps. Well I know you can do it in IPB, I was thinking we should add a bump button to the marketplace which will bump it without posting. It would just be a button you have to click and it will bump it. There could be a limit to how often you bump it and it would make posts a lot neater and stop them from going on for pages and pages.

If you can find a mod at invisionize.com or another site similar to that which allows tracking in the ACP of bumps, and which forums the button is placed in, then it may be a possibility.

Currently we have the 1 bump/24 hour rule, and so we would want to monitor that closely. Other then that the rule doesn't seem like a bad idea, it would keep all the excess posting down (not like it matters too much, credits and post count isn't increased in those forums) but it may help lower the MySQL issues as the posts require more to save them.

 

i think its a good idea aslong as there is a limit on it, cos otherwise there will be a bumpin competition

Okay well Dementia I am glad you like the idea, I will look for a mod for this on Invisionize if not then I will use my coding skills to make my own for IPB 2.0, if this was 2.1 then I would be able to supply you with one straight away.

I have never used 2.0, however I thought there would be a built in bump feature.

I believe that there is a built in feature, but you cant log bumps, so people could repeatedly bump throughout the day.

 

This could work, but have like a 5 hour thing, so they can bump every 5 hours by pressing the button.

 

But that renders the "1 bump per 24 hours" rule obsolete.

Thats not the best enforced rule, but you make it bump every 25 hours instead then.

Even if the mod is installed it only allows the topic starter to bump using the button, others will still post bumps for the topic which will pretty much be the same as it is now.
