Realism is manips for people who are scared to try large art. tbh And Cheap. But you guys do it well. Very well.
Realism can be okay, but most people don't even understand the concept of it. Pasting a render on a single background stock, then doing a few colour balances and maybe adding a lighting source, is NOT REALISM. Taking a Halo render, and pasting it on the background it was probably cut out of, is NOT REALISM. True realism is where you take a render, multiple stocks and EFFECTS YOU HAVE CREATED, to create a scene. Mantis, Daecu etc etc, are all sporting these "realism" tags, which take ------ all work. All it takes is a render, stock and a vague idea of what composition might mean, and you're away. I've always noticed how people who whore realism, NEVER make other style tags, and always have terrible text. Before I left, I was into making realism tags, and there weren't a huge amount of people doing so, but they were always much more complex and well made than a lot of what's floating around here.
id rather see a badly made realism tag, than the whored c4d's tbh. and sometimes a render/image looks better as a realism piece, but no matter what people will never agree.. isnt that the whole point in life. to do as you like, say as you wish, and who really gives a f**k at the end of the day, its all opinion, you have yours and i have mine deal with it
That's the problem. Effort. I won't vote for the better looking tag if there's no effort in it, they haven't -done- anything. Otherwise why not nick a wallpaper of CG/GW and just paste it in? Same effect, minimal effort for a mildly good looking result.
It takes effort to blend images together flawlessly. You have to change the light, you have to burn/lighten, you have to find the appropriate resources to give the effect you are looking for. I use c4d's in some of my realism tags, I just don't OVERUSE them.
Show me a realism tag that's done flawlessly then we'll talk. It's basic tools with practically no creativity involved, it allows people with no actual artistic talent to make something slightly attractive.
If you don't think I have artistic talent, then you should look at some of my real art on my dA that wasn't done on a computer.
