    Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone would know if these specific products would help? I do have a Fan controller and I do plan upgrading my stock fans to lower the noise,(getting silent fan models) but Still I'd like to make the noise as low as possible

    http://www.xoxide.com/vibdampener1.html
    http://www.xoxide.com/psusilencer-clr.html
    etc

If you can't see the links it contains 80mm + 120mm Van Vibration Dampeners and one for a Power supply. Does anyone know if these would help??

I was also wondering if anyone has knowledge about Sound dampening material such as this and are they effective or not at all??

    All help is appreciated Thanks

Sound dampening material isn't worth the money. Best way to go, Buy some nice quality 120mm case fans, a nice after market air cooler like the Scythe Ninja and you'll be set.

    I'll disagree...

go to a hardware store and buy a $5 box of cheap rubber washers.
that box should be enough to cover around 50-100 fans

but if you mean "premium" sound dampeners then ohh by all means TOTAL ripoff

as he said though, lots of 120MM fans and good heatsinks.

and if you're worried and too cheap for a fan controller, 7v mod the fans. most fans @ 1000RPM are reasonably quiet

Yeah, and I was also thinking of the insulation material which is greatly over-priced and very inefficient.

Thanks you 2, I do have a fan controller, but these stock fan's still are loud in my opinion. So I'd still like to try and get fans that have very low db and decent cfm. I don't over clock atm so I should be fine. I'll also try the washers at the hardware store!

Don't buy 80mm fans. They are always noisy.

most of the time fans ratings are absolute garbage.

furthermore there are 3 ratings, not two

    CFM
    static pressure
    loudness

if the air is going through a lot of resistance, it will tend to go off to the side/be slower than if it's in open air. Static pressure is basically the measure of how forcefully the air is blown

    here have a good gander

no worries I over-analyze things all the time and generally have a tendency of overruling blanket statements.
add the words "in majority of cases" to pretty much everything you say and you'll find that I'm in complete agreeable with the bulk of your opinions and thoughts

Mmhmm, I know what you mean. But considering there are only a handful of people active in this forum that know enough to argue with my blanket statements, I don't have too much trouble using them. Besides, most of the people who ask for help on here would get confused with any specifics or variables, so sometimes making vast generalisations is the only way to get the to shut up and listen up.

Looking at that review made me rethink my fan selection :\. I guess I'll really think about this and decide if I want to get near "silent" fan's to give up the air flow they can't provide compared to the others.
