In this tutorial I will teach you how to make scan lines, grids and small dots.

    1. Open up Photoshop and go to File>New. Make sure the Width and Height are in Pixels. Make the pixel width "3" and the pixel height "3". Make the background contents "Transparent"

    2. Select the magnifying glass and go over your document. Click to zoom in. Keep zooming in until it can't zoom in anymore.

    3. Now click the paint brush tool and keep the button pressed until a selection menu drops down. From this menu select the "Pencil" tool.

    4. To make sure you have the right brushes we are going to reset the brush menu. Look at the top menu on the left where it says "Brush". A box with an arrow is to the right of it. Click the arrow to have a drop down list of your brushes. On the top right of that menu click the little arrow to get another dropdown menu list. Select "Reset Brushes" then click "OK".

    5. Go back to the brush list and select the first brush with one pixel.

    6. To make scanlines a grid, or small dots draw what you see below in your document.

    6. Once you have finished drawing the type you want go to Edit>Define Pattern. Give it a name and your done. To test what you have done click the "Paint Bucket Tool" then go to the top menu and on the left where it says "Foreground", click the little arrow next to it, and select pattern. Then click the arrow on the box on the right, select your pattern, fill your document, and your done. Repeat all the steps above to create more patterns.

Think we can see the outcomes of using each scanline?
