I think the Korean War mod can be really, really good. But I would advise having a really big conspiracy theory backdrop :)

[Don't ask me what -- I just think it would be cool]

A mod is a modification to the game. They come in a few different forms:

Some mods are just little enhancements to the game, such as adding a new weapon or something.

Some mods are "total conversions", which convert all the models and some other things of the game.

Mods use the game engine they are made for. A mod for Half-Life 2 would be based on the HL2 engine.

Well Korean War isn't stupid and it never was.. It wasn't really important. But it isn't stupid. It'll be a good mod since alot of people don't reckon the Korean War. If you like WWII Games Korean War is 5 years after the WWII so they'll be wearing the same uniform, using same guns, etc.

Whatever game he's able to modify...

Some games are extremely hard to "crack open" and convert everything to your own.

True but Steam allowed the community to create modifications of games. The source or engine I'll be using is called the Source Engine which is Half-Life 2, CS Source, and the upcomning DOD Source. 38 Parallel is gonna be a mod for HL2
