Hey, this is HinSaru* new guy that just registered here @ GR =]. For those who have Half-Life 2 you'll gonna jump your pants out. I am going to start a mod called "38 parallel." Its based on the Korean War since there isn't alot of mod based on the korean war. First let me give you a background of the Korean War. 5 years after Korea was unoccupied by Japan (been occupied for 40 years I think). BTW no shit I'm Korean you can tell lol. North Koreans or called Commies wanted the whole Korea to be a commie. North Korea attacked South Korea without warning. North Korea had more advantage until South Korea got those bastards back. America came to help South Korea. Then North Korea had gotten more allies which were Commie part of China and the Soviet Union. Later after the war, the border of NK and SK are called The 38 Parallel which where I got this name. Requirements Right now here is what I need: Mapper Maybe a coder (got the base finished) Modeler (I know this shouldn't be on this topic >< btw if you can do any of these PM please =]) Anyhow I'm exicited of this mod. Its gonna have some maps when you ride a B-17s (Gunner / Bomber plane), some beach maps, and so many maps. It'll have the realstic feeling of the Korean War. The weapons will be using the WWII American Weapon for SK and USA. For NK, RUSSIA, CHINA will be using Japanese, Russian, and Chinese weapons. I'm thinking of trying to make a class such as Soldier Medic thats all I can think of right now lol The website is gonna be up in a sec. 38parallel.com I bought the domain a while ago so yea =]. Sorry this is a weird place but there is no other places to post this =]. Thanks for the support, HinSaru*
Screen eh.. First of all I don't have anything setup just the base. Thats why I'm wondering for staffs @.@
omg idiot he hasn't done anything yet.....i can't really do any of that very well and i get hl2 for xmas so if u need any testing just call
I had started like I said the "base" which is the main thing like the source engine etc. Now I gotta fill up the maps, models, and sounds.
LOL base is first stage coding.. which is the source engine. If you want to see a picture of a black screen sure but thats it =].
I would kinda like to see what you have started even if it is the base as well.. Can you please show us?
Hey HinSaru, If you want people to join this project you are going to have to provide some detailed concept of what is at hand. Showing us the base folder of a mod for HL2 isn't very useful. The concept storyline is all very well, but people are going to have to code units, items and A.I. from this -- they need more than a storyline. Can you not post some pictures of soldiers in that period, city scapes or something of relevance to that time. A brief overview of how the player will progress through this game (How many levels? Aesthetical details and quality of models? etc...) will also be of great help to your development team as it will enable them to anticipate how this project is to develop. Making a mod is by no means any small task, if you want help then do appeal specifically to coders, mappers and (especially for this forum) the artists. I would recommend you make available some contact details if you seriously want people to approach you with interest of this project. Keep us posted.
Yea, I know I'm still trying to work on getting models done.. one thing is I can't compile then to a .jpg or .gif or any viewable pictures. They come in a different format that can't be viewed. Maps I could do but I usually made the older version maps for 1.6, dod, etc. Besides.. The people wanted a screenshot of the base. By the way... Half-Life 2 is a really great game.. CNN said they blew the competition away. When creating a mod for Half-Life 2, the physics, models, and ai are still gonna be in good shape.. including the graphics. All mods for HL2 will be powered by the Source engine which makes it a good game. All you need is some time into it. Alright thanks for the support L4mBdA.
Reason why nobody has ever done a Korean War mod... because that is a pretty stupid idea But if you pull it off right it could be great. EDIT: but then again that is the case with most mods...
