Let me have a word in this.

Firstly, Faint, I personally think your attitude in your first post was unnecessary, seeing as, why the heck would you want to try to persuade people to use defaults because if they dont, they have no skill.

As Bona said, signatures are probably the easiest piece of ''Digital Art'' out there. But in art, it's not only about the effort but mainly about the result. If someone wants to download someone's brushes, slap 'em on to a 350x141 canvas, add a cut out of a picture that this person didn't make, nor did the person who cut it out, then add some colour, and throw in some text on a font they didn't make ... let them. If you go to an Art Gallery, and you see a painting or sculpture you like, but all they did was collect a few bits and pieces and put the concept together, does that mean it's sh*t? Listen, no matter how big or small the piece of art is, it's the result that counts. You may well earn respect if you only used defaults. But guess what? You're not going to make everyone use defaults, because it's pretty much impossible in most states of art.

Vincent Van Gogh; one of the best and most popular painters ever lived. Did he make the individual paints in his pallete? No. Paint is made out of natural resources .. out of elements of this earth. If we decide not to use anything other than things we made, well you didn't make the earth did you? If we stop using these materials then art will come to a stop as a whole. Sculptures, what about a sculpture containing copper? Copper is a natural material, we didn't make it though did we? Photoshop, Photoshop is a resource by itself, when using 'Default' brushes, that does not make you cool or any better than you were using other people brushes. You know why? Because someone, somewhere made those 'Default' brushes believe it or not. So either way, it's still to not classed as your own art. Filters in Photoshop, ooh wow I'm uber, I can make a sig using only filters, then again, someone other than you, made those filters.

Life is a resource, not only in art but life as a whole, and I may be scattering this out of proportion but some of you have to realise that no matter how hard you try, it is actually impossible to create something from scratch without some way or another, using a material from earth. So why you are a ''newb'' if you can't do defaults, I dont know. Because every Professional artist out there, will use something that is not their own.

And some of you, if you think you're so great, should maybe move on from signatures, and start creating some larger art, and then be ''professional'' as you call it.

Concluding, no one, ever, will create a piece of art without using some kind or another, matieral, programme, or element that is not theirs. So as just the same in making signatures, defaults will live on, but as far as I'm concerned, it's nothing different. So aim for a better result rather than trying to boost your reputation, after all, that's what art is about.

Actually, I did build my own computer.

Anyways, if you think deaut brushes aren't reipping, guess agian!! Because guess who makes em?? Adobe!! so Technically you rip no matter what in that program.

There sigs for pete sacks, stop taking them so serious, its not like using defaults makes you an actual artists, it just makes you one of the newer trendy bastards that thinks they are cool because they can put some random crap in a 400x100.

Sigs use to be done for fun back in the day, now all you kids do with them is try and one up each other and pretend your good with photoshop. I say get a life and get some talent.
