    shutup, you're wrong

after a week or two, macs become so friggin slow its not funny...they are utter crap. I have had years of experience with macs and I absolutely hate them, they are so unreliable and painfully slow. (Not to mention the random lock-ups)

I have both an Mac and a Windows and to be honest i feel that the windows is not "Better" but is just alot easier to use. Mainly because ive always used them i know where everything is, how to work it, how to play a game, how to customize etc etc. Now that Mac has gotten competitive we could very well see an uprise in gaming machines for apple? Who knows what that could be like...
But what you say about windows not looking nice... Well it depends 1. on what screen you have and 2. where you keep your tower, and if it is on show then just get a better looking case. I think the windows is alot more customizable. However the Mac are Unique looking which is always cool, but who wants to play on something just because it reminds you of a piece of furniture?
Really it depends on what your gonna use your computer for and wether your computer is for looking at or for using...

the G5s outperform everything currently available on the market. SAure it takes a ----load of pwoer to operate them, they run horibly hot and they are effectively a dead end, but they are by no means worse than x86 processors in terms of just sheer performance at stock.

    also, IBM makes the g5s

as for an AMD powered mac, just swap out the motherboard and proc you lazy fvck... not too hard, customize as needed... see project OSx86

i swear, there are some ignorant fanboys and idiots here.
I use a windows and/or linux-based PC, I prefer their architecture and flexibility.

also, anyone experiencing crashing or slowness either has a ----, low-end system or is just a plain idiot. windows NT based systems and winserver 2k3 systems are quite stable(and kind of restart them selfs if a system crash[not hardware based] occurs w/o data loss). OSX is even stabler and more or less anythign linux based is more stable than any of them.

I have used Windows the most, and have some experiance with OSX and Linux, I believe none of them are specifiacally "better" than each other, they all have thier advantages and disadvantages, it all boils down to the end users personal preference.

if 3rd party support were identical, mac OSX and linux based distributions would more or less walk over windows.

I mean specifically as an OS. the PC platform on the whole has quite a few advantages over Apples idea of a platform(mostly price and flexibility)

I love Mac's, but I have a PC. I wish I had a Mac because of the all the accessories and such that come with it. PC IMO, is kinda lame. And they look horrible.

news for you, my system was a ----load more stable than a typical mac... cost less... and had a lot better performance than that overpriced crap known as the xbox 360... was capable of playing games from more or less any console via emulation should software support become available and the only god damn diference between a mac and a custom built PC is that the PC doesn't put 50% of the price in Apples general revenue...
ohh and an OS which has more eyecandy than more or less any other, but neither the performance and efficency of linux(albiet not far from), nor the support of windows

can't say apple's policies are any worse(they're better than mosts in reality other than moderate price gouging) than other OEMs but damnit, get the hell over it. The only perceiveable avantage is the OS which doesn't even matter that much.

also, rush, what accessories come with a mac that make it so awesome? you dont' get a free ipod, you don't get a 'free' monitor unless you pay for it in some way or another, mouse and keyboards, more or less standard(save for the ommission of the del key and a few buttons and a wheel on a mouse) doesn't come with speakers...

serious get the hell over it. They are all the same damn thing now except a mac has better software and less flexibility and price gouging. OEM PCs have only marginally more flexibiliy if not less and have similar levels of price gouging and custom built PCs more or less can have it all, a stable OS(anything linux absed or solaris), low cost(on the mid end and up) tremendous flexbility etc. no one has given a truely legitimate reason.

also, saying PCs aren't a better platform for gaming is stupid as a mouse is a very good tool and a keyboard is considered by many to be the ultimate controler... and you can buy freaking joysticks and controllers should you choose.

How dare you call me a fanboy. That is one thing I am not. What I meant when I said AMD powered, AMD powered out of the box. Isn't that what Macs are famous for? Being ready to use out of the box.

That's more or less any OEM...

they've always been famous for having a proprietory(err semi-propietory now) platform and a good OS(more so recently)

Ive had a dual core pc since...February, and I can honestly say it not ONCE crashed or restarted on me, it is the most reliable thing I have ever used. I dont understand these people who say that their pc's crash on them everyday, they must be absolute morons who have limewire and all that stupid ---- that slow down and mess your computer up.

Back in highschool, we were all given brand new iBooks to use to write up our essays and do research on the internet. We werent allowed to download software or install anything because we did not have the admin pword, yet literally 45 out of the 50 laptops were all sent back to California for repairs at some point or another (Including mine because the logiboard or whatever had died), while the other 5 that werent sent back were still amazingly slow and suffered from random "unexpected quits". We had a computer lab filled with iMacs that were also painfully slow and unreliable...startup alone took literally 5 minutes, despite the fact that we still werent able to install any software. The only time I remember having a pleasurable experience on the mac was way back when we had the Macintosh 2...but I guess thats because I had nothing else to compare it with since it was our first computer at home.

I agree with xelink on this...with pc's, you'd have to be an idiot to have a crappy computer. But with macs, theyre gonna be slow and unreliable eitherway. I really WANT to like macs, because they look so smooth and sleek, but everytime I use one it causes nothing but anger.

for the record... I don't ergularly use virus/asaware/spyware scanners...

I just pop in a windows disc every other month walk away, skateboard, weight lift, watch TV, do something... comeback ina few minuutes...

    OMFG... no virusses...

    again...

the only reason to prefer a mac is the OS. To me though, that isn't a justifiable reason to spend 50% more on a platform while limiting your options. I personally like mac OSX and if it ever became comercially available as a standalone OS I would certainely use it.
