I agree with you on some parts in this, i have also had some reputation points with just '<3' in them but they were given to me in a valid topic where i was either giving free psd's, tutorials etc out for full rights that i had either bought beforehand/and or i had made myself, in my opinion they were valid but they were removed from my reputation. Maybe some people are too lazy to write a little something in the reputation that they are giving, i don't know... all i know is that i have personally had over 100 +reps taken away from me. Some because yes i thought they were invalid too, others because as Andrew said and i quote 'I only came back to go through your reputation kirbir to remove them' or something to that effect, now if that was his only reason for him coming back to the GR staff then he shouldn't have bothered. A lot of staff and members know on here that myself and Andrew do not get along but personal vendettas for whatever reason he may have for not liking me should not be brought onto GR and be taken out on me as a person on this forum, i have nothing more to say on this matter.

As for the invalid reputations, i couldn't agree more, i have had my fair share of these also on this forum, some for not liking me, others because i voiced my personal opinions on certain matters, things like this should not be used against you as a member on this forum. We have the freedom to voice our own opinions so i don't see why we as a person should be punished for voicing them, so yes i agree with you on that.

    Credits:

Well i personally like the credits on this forum, it helps me to help more members out by buying more resources, psd's, tutorials or just simply giving them to members who are in need of them, that is the sole purpose of me having the credits that i have. I like to help people out and as i am once again new to making signatures (as i have not made any in quite a few months) this is the only other way i can help the members of GR out.

The selling of credits has gone a little out of control in my personal opinion but if people are willing to spend their real life cash on internet credits then leave them be, it is up to them what they do with their cash and who are we to say that they can not do it? It is part of the forum now and i think it is here to stay, there is nothing we can do about it. Even if the admins/mods were to decide not to let the selling of credits happen anymore on GR it will still happen, whether the deal will be done via msn or pm or on another forum, how are the admins/mods able to know whether that said person has sold them to another member?.

    Tutorials:

Yes there are a lot of places as to where you can sell tutorials, it is very rare though that you see tutorials being sold in the offers and requests forum unless they have a set price as to what they want to sell them for, for full rights. Rather than using the auction room to sell them and taking up space in there they would rather post it in that said section as it is not an auction. I would like to see more free tutorials also which is why i have my own pinned topic in the tutorial section, tutorials in that topic are ones that i have bought out of my own credits so that i could give them out for free for all the members to use, i also spent a lot of credits on some of them. I also have a couple in there that people have given to me to help me get these tutorials out in the public and for those people i thank them.

I agree with you that only the most appealing signatures/tutorials are bought in the auction room but there is nothing we can do about that, i try to help other members out by bidding on their signatures/tutorials even if they are not that appealing to me but hey who knows, they could be appealing to other members who are new to graphics.

    Crews:

I don't know about other crews but my own crew are currently working on a psd pack that will be given out for free for all the members to look at and see how we all make our signatures, i know of some crews that only get psd packs together to sell but that is one thing i will not be doing in my crew. My crew is here to help both the members of my crew and the member who are not in my crew, i like it when i see members of my crew helping out fellow members of this forum, makes me proud :P

I also see a lot of inactive crews in that section but they have paid the fee to get that crew up and running so i don't see why it shouldn't be allowed to stay, unless they break a rule or something there is nothing that anyone can do really.

    Glow and user titles:

I agree with you on that, it needs to be fixed but as the staff always tends to give that said member the user or glow effect back then i can't really see a problem with them doing so but i also think that, that should be fixed, that way the staff will be able to concentrate more on the 'more serious matters' within this forum.

    Report button:

They used to have one if i remember rightly but it was removed as it caused trouble for the staff members that had only just come online, seen the report and gone to the thread to find that it had already been sorted out, this time could have been used on more serious matters. I don't see a problem with pm'n a staff member who is currently on the forum at the time when you see an offense being made by another member, this is what i tend to do anyway.

I agree with you about the staff application form, i think they used to do this if i am not mistaken but i also think that the way they do it now is also a good way, i mean if staff member(s) see another person putting a lot of time and effort into the forum they could be contacted/and or put forward for a staff position, etc etc.

    Mod falsely banning:

I have had my share of this, well suspended for reasons i should not have been, for example: one time when someone used my name in IRC and was saying '------ me harder' or something, i was the one who got suspended and warned for it even though it was not me doing it, lol, but i suppose there is nothing we can do about this to be honest, the staff tend to agree with each other when they suspend/ban a member.

    Staff using proper grammer:

Well i know of some staff members that use the correct grammer but to be honest, who on here really uses correct grammer/and or spell their words out correctly? It is a forum and as i have said to many people already, why should we have to spell our words correctly? as long as the members/people who are reading our posts know what we are saying then what is the problem? same goes to the staff members, i don't think we should force the staff to spell correctly, afterall again, it is only a forum.

Sectional mods: I agree and disagree with you on that, i personally think they can come in handy but i also think that they should be given a couple more powers also, i mean there has been a lot of times when DS has seen something wrong on the forum, whether a person had posted in the wrong section or a member just being a complete ass to another member and there has been nothing he can do about it as he did not have the power in those certain places.

Retired staff userbars and own section:

Yes you need a new userbar and i have seen a couple of people post up a bar that fits in with all the new userbars on this forum yet i have seen nothing done about this yet. Retired staff section i think you should have back also, you put time into this forum so why should you not be able to have your own section and put your views and ideas forward in there for the other staff members to see.

Ok i think i am done now, lol.

Saying anything about crews is virtually pointless. I've tried.

I seriously think Shaggy needs to be on more to read this stuff, or he needs to hire/promote someone he trusts enough to take care of the forum coding, etc in his absence.

We're missing buttons, along with the userbar as you said. We keep on getting told that it will be fixed shortly, but it's never done.

I know you mods/admins do the best you can with things, but shaggy has to approve near everything forum wise before it can be done.

G72 (The former Admin) was the only one I saw really doing anything.

I only read the first post and nothing else. But I tried to help out GR with the other topic that was here about this. If people are acutally going to pay REAL LIFE MONEY for tags let them do it....it's there own fault.

The point I'm trying to get across is not that the whole of GR has gone selling creds happy, but that a sole minority of people come here only to get 1 thing, real life money. Why should they pollute such a great board with all their entrepreneurial skills? This is a graphics forum mainly, it's intended purpose has turned upside down, and it's for the worse.

Surely their is a solution to these items being abused as with the arcade? I mean, credits and reputation is abused but no one does much about that, these are insignificant compared to these store bugs.

That is true, certain hyped members from prodominant crews will always be popular to buy from. I don't know what EBK offers that many other people don't to be honest. No offense to him but he only sells well because of his status, same goes for many other members.

Ever had someone tell you you're never going to achieve in life?
Yes this is my opinion, but many of these sentiments are echoed by fellow members of this forum, and have been for upwards of a year, yet nothing has happened yet. Hopefully with the help of our own section back so our ideas can be considered and improved, we will have a say again. Who says the forum is going to change because of my opinions? When I was part of the staff my input made this forum change positively, so please do not tell me I cannot make an impact, because I can, and I will. Remove credits and rep and you don't have a forum? Wow, that has to be the most untrue statement of the year. This forum had a better reputation before the credits situation. I learned how to make sigs on this forum, I met many great people, did collabs with them and learned even more, this forum got me interested in graphics. If I joined this forum yesterday, I'm sorry to say but I don't think I would learn the way I did. The community was full of quality people, not to say that isn't the same today, but the selfish numskulls who are only here for the $ really corrupt this tradionally nice community. I don't sell tutorials, merchant them, or sell credits for RL cash, but I strive to improve my graphics skills, get involved in discussions, enter competitions and maybe even chat about entertainment/games. This forum is massive, and you're telling me there would be nothing to achieve? Textbook example of ignorance.

@ Axiom (as to not quote long quotes) - I appreciate your help here, as the staff are the only real people who have an insight into whats going on and whats going to happen. I'm glad to hear about the prospect of the retired staff section back.

I was looking forward to the blogs, but if it's not happening, it's not going to be cataclysmic.

I've seen the newspaper teams fizzle out, and I agree to an extent. Maybe don't put together a team, but get guest writers to write one article each week, could work.

You're right about the crews, they have paid to get there and it wouldn't be fair to just depose of them. I just think you should stop now. They're basically just a big over rated trend.

Well with tutorials, I know this is a sensitive subject, but if we stinted the selling of credits, more people would move to create free tutorials. We have Member of the Month, so people would stll get rewarded for their free tutorial writing. GR could pay a reward for all premium tutorials. I don't know why the staff are so worried about members leaving or rebelling if we stop the selling of credits, you want contributers, not sellers. Even if they all left, would that really be a bad thing?

Took the words out of my mouth. It seems that most of your mods want this situation to change, so mind me asking if it is being stinted by the decision of the Admins? Or maybe one particular staff member if dictating? Anyways, thanks for replying, it means alot to me. :)

@ Kirbir - That's the problem with alot of your rep, that people put meaningless comments to show their appreciation. I don't know how the staff deal with these, but maybe you should state in your topics if they are going to rep to put a reason so it doesn't get deleted?

Well that's just wrong that Andrew came back for that, he once called me disgruntled ex staff, lol. I think we can safely conclude that he is just a bitter and generally not nice person. Or maybe he just has a problem with women.

Don't get me wrong, I think credits are an awesome part of the forum as a mod. But they are abused and used in the wrong way. And the root of this problem was when the rules that you could use credits to buy tutorials and sell them for RL $ was enforced. I mentioned that people could still spend their cash on creds if they wanted, I just don't think it should be an option to sell them, because people come here to merchant and make money for RL only, and why should it be GR? We have the power to change this.

Well people can still sell accounts on MSN/via PM etc, that's inevitable. But I still think if this rule was made, it would be for the better. As I said, all rules can be broken, but the staff stops alot of this, and same would apply if this rules was put in place.

I admire you for your dedication to GR, and what you have done to make free tutorials available does not go unappreciated. :) But if we made it so that tutorials could not be sold unless you made them yourself, surely you would be happier, as more people would be inspired to just give out the free tutorials.

As I said, the crews was more of a question that a rant. Your crew is probably one of the more useful and contributing, I just don't think we need anymore.

I still think we should have the report button back, could a solution be made so that when a problem was sorted the message the staff got could be deleted or something? I'm not very educated at coding, so I don't know.

If a mod has falsely banned someone, which is an extreme 'crime', they should be removed from staff. And certainly not allowed to return, I think this is very important.

The grammar thing was more of a joke, it just niggles me when admins/moderaters use 'u i' etc. They are authority and I find it hard to take someone seriously who talks like this, online forum or not.

I didn't reply to all points, but my opinion is shared on the ones I haven't replied to.

@ THFM - New site please. sellingsigsandvirtualcurrenciesforRLmoney.com. Not here.

Note: Let me just highlight the fact that I AM FEMALE, to all those calling me 'he'.

That I cannot say, the holdups do not in anyway fall on the shoulders of one person so your jab with someone dictating were not needed at all. You said you were done arguing with him in here, so why bring that up again?

I actually, truly wasn't aiming that comment at him. <_< But people complain about Shaggy not caring, all I was doing was inquiring, no need to acuse me.

I must say that i HATE the rule on the ripper and scammer part of this site. A 10% warn and 500 credits lost is a hard price to pay for mearly trying to help resolve a problem. :( But on the other hand i do feel that unwanted advice is ot needed.

I will add more of my personal view later, when i get a chance to read through all the posts. But i have to say, flamesy, you go girl!!! :)

I think we all should hear her out. Seeing as how shes old staff, I'm sure she can tell a good GR from a bad one. As far as selling stuff for cash, that will probably make a big issue. I'm not sure, I honestly don't think they will change, but hopefully they will

@ Kirbir - That's the problem with alot of your rep, that people put meaningless comments to show their appreciation. I don't know how the staff deal with these, but maybe you should state in your topics if they are going to rep to put a reason so it doesn't get deleted?

Even if i were to put that in all my topics i still don't think that would work to be honest, i mean.. a lot of members tend to 'skim' through posts and don't really read them properly, they tend to look at what they will be receiving/and or the credits that they will be rewarded with, that is the only thing that most members look for. I have had reputation removed from me even when they had reasons for doing so but again sometimes these reputations came from a different topic to the one where i was giving something away etc so this i can understand but they should look a little more into the reputation of a member before just deciding to delete them you know?

Well that's just wrong that Andrew came back for that, he once called me disgruntled ex staff, lol. I think we can safely conclude that he is just a bitter and generally not nice person. Or maybe he just has a problem with women.

lol maybe he has a problem with women? who knows but that is the reason he gave to me for coming back to staff, one of his main reasons anyway.. That was said in IRC.

I agree that some people do abuse the credits on this forum and yes i also think that some members use them in the wrong way but why punish other members on the forum because a selected few are credit/$ hungry? Maybe if the rule did change on selling credits for $'s and it was no longer allowed i still don't see people respecting this rule, they will still go ahead and sell them anyway so meh.. i really can't see how this would work to be honest hun.

Well people can still sell credits on MSN/via PM etc, that's inevitable. But I still think if this rule was made, it would be for the better. As I said, all rules can be broken, but the staff stops alot of this, and same would apply if this rules was put in place.

Maybe, i suppose the only way we are going to find out is if the admins stop the selling of credits but i really can't see this happening.

I admire you for your dedication to GR, and what you have done to make free tutorials available does not go unappreciated. smile.gif But if we made it so that tutorials could not be sold unless you made them yourself, surely you would be happier, as more people would be inspired to just give out the free tutorials.

Before buying all the tutorials to post in my topic i had no clue how to even make a tutorial, lol.. i was never really interested in learning how to do so but i have recently been writing my own tutorials for another site that i am an admin on, myself and gacus made about 50 tutorials between us in less than a week to help a fellow member of this forum out, his site was new and he needed the resources to get his site up and running, therefore me and gacus said we would do this for free. So maybe i could start to write my own tutorials from now on but sometimes i am just too lazy to do so, lol.

What we need on here is people who are willing to help the fellow members out a little more instead of expecting something in return, for example credits. I don't see why people can not just help other members out when they need it without the member needing to pay for the help, which is why a lot of the time i give members credits so that other members will make them a signature or cut an image out for them, i think it is wrong for a member to expect something in return for giving a little help to another member on here. If members were a little more helpful to others i think this forum would go far but as stated in many other posts, people are just credit hungry and will not do anything for free.

As I said, the crews was more of a question that a rant. Your crew is probably one of the more useful and contributing, I just don't think we need anymore.

Maybe we don't need anymore on here at the moment as there is quite a lot of crews at the moment and yes maybe my crew is one of the more helpful ones on here but i also see some crews trying to get a few things together so i can't really let my crew get credit for helping others out when other crews are trying to do the same also, lol.

I still think we should have the report button back, could a solution be made so that when a problem was sorted the message the staff got could be deleted or something? I'm not very educated at coding, so I don't know. blink.gif

Yeah i was thinking of something like that also, where a admin/mod can press a little button when they have dealt with the problem already and it automatically removes the pm that the other staff members get? Like you though i do not know an awful lot about coding

If a mod has falsely banned someone, which is an extreme 'crime', they should be removed from staff. And certainly not allowed to return, I think this is very important.

I agree but like i have said, all the staff tend to stick together regarding things like this so i don't see anything happening about this, if i personally seen a moderator on the forum i am an admin on falsely ban or suspend someone on it, i would remove their staff status also, i don't think this is right and it should be taken seriously.

The grammar thing was more of a joke, it just niggles me when admins/moderaters use 'u i' etc. They are authority and I find it hard to take someone seriously who talks like this, online forum or not.

True but i suppose it depends on the person in question, some people are just too lazy to spell their words out correctly or just tend to find it easier to type the way they do (shorthand) so nothing we can do there, lol.

I have one more suggestion i think needs attention putting towards, the IRC chat room, there are so many things that go on in there that i personally don't really like going into the chat room anymore for my own personal reasons and reasons/problems i have had with certain staff members in there. I don't think it is right to ban someone from the chat room over some so silly like 'voicing your opinions' If you can not voice your opinions or have a little fun in there then why is there a chat room to begin with? There has been so many times i have seen a member banned from here just for having a little fun or for voicing their opinions that it isn't even funny anymore. I also recently seen one staff member (who i will not name) ban a member who had just gone into the chat room and asked for some help.. i mean come on, he asked for help with something regarding something on the forum, what gives the staff member the right to just ban someone for that? It is rediculous and pretty childish in my opinion, people need to keep an eye on things like this a little more closely in the chat room because it does get out of hand which is why once again the IRC chat room is empty.

Im not gonna reply to every single thing in here because its alot to reply to, and because I dont have time to sit and read it all again.

I already told you in private I was bringing back the retired staff section just as soon as I had the time to do so. So there wasnt much point in posting it here.

The GR Bank selling credits wasnt Shaggys idea, so ya'll can stop harping on him for that too. It was my idea. Why did I suggest it? Because Shaggy was paying out of pocket to keep GR running. So I was trying to help him balance it out more, so that he wasnt paying out of pocket for a site.

Coding things...that takes awhile longer, I can make forum changes via the acp. But since I dont have alot of coding knowledge, its something that takes me a bit longer to take care of, because I either have to find a walkthrough, or have someone walk me through it.

Rep has been and will continue to be cleaned up. We have removed hundreds of invalid positive and negative rep, even from the staff members. In fact, the staff members where some of the first to go through the clean up process when it came to rep.

As for trying to take the focus away from credits. We tried that, we even put a limit on how much tutorials can be sold for and guess what? A HUGE portion of the community was outraged. That tells me that a huge portion of the community does enjoy the aspect of buying and selling credits. Especially since when we even tried to limit how much they could sell them for, again, they where outraged.

Lastly, im going to add this. Some of the comments being made ARE comments made out of problems/personal vendettas with certain staff members. If you wish to offer constructive criticsm on improving the site, and be taken seriously, I am going to have to ask that the innuendos of snide comments being made toward specific staff members, be stopped.

However, on top of that, let me say this. I do watch my staffs actions, and I have called them on inappropriate actions before. You may not see it, but thats because we handle those sort of things privately, because that is how they should be handled.

As for the irc chat, yeah, theres random things that go on, but if we really want to crack down on the rules, we can do so. But I am sure most of the chatters in there will be gone if we did that.

sorry cant reply to everything even though i wanted to but this crap ass PC cant take it (at home atm :D ) I will have a longer one soon

Well from some of the members that talk to me they have said that the useless banning in there made members not to come to the IRC room because of it for example something i saw say 1-2 days ago: I saw myself Andrew banning someone when he was just asking for some anime/manga renders for RoTW, which i could give him - He kickbanned him - I dont ahve any problems with him personally but doing that is uneeded

There has been more over the past as well that made the IRC room less popular ... O well hm ... I will soon decide on doing a IRC campaign again like last time i think gurly do it last time :)

@flamesy - OMG flamesy a gurl!! haha your going to get +repd like kirbir now ;)

I don't think that anyone has blamed Shaggy for the selling of credits hun unless i have not read it properly or missed some posts out but i haven't seen anyone say that he was to blame. If i have missed this out then i apologize.

Coding things...that takes awhile longer, I can make forum changes via the acp. But since I dont have alot of coding knowledge, its something that takes me a bit longer to take care of, because I either have to find a walkthrough, or have someone walk me through it.

We can understand that but isn't there anyone you can ask to do the coding for you? Someone yourself or Shaggy can trust to do this? We appreciate the effort and time that the staff are putting into the site but some things just really need to be done. :)

I thought the idea was pretty good myself and i agreed with this rule change but like you have stated already, yes alot of the members were not happy with the new rule. Maybe if you would have kept this going a little longer members would have adapted to the idea of only being able to sell a tutorial for 50 credits at the most, now if the tutorial was good and the outcome looked great i really don't see what the members had a problem with, i mean we have THOUSANDS of members who are registered on here, now if even a quarter of the members bought the tutorial from the seller they would have still made an awful lot of credits so why are they complaining?

Lastly, im going to add this. Some of the comments being made ARE comments made out of problems/personal vendettas with certain staff members. If you wish to offer constructive criticsm on improving the site, and be taken seriously, I am going to have to ask that the innuendos of snide comments being made toward specific staff members, be stopped.

If this was directed at me which i think it is, also directed at Flamesy, if the said staff members we have named in here respected the members a little more and not start crap with them in the chat room or even on the forum most members would not have a problem with them. BUT, if those said staff members can not respect the members on here then why should the members respect what they have to say? I mean come on.. if you respect someone you will be respected back, just because they are staff doesn't mean that they can go around and call a fellow member on this forum. Whatever reason they have for disliking someone it should be kept to themselves rather than saying things out in public, especially the IRC chat room. I never used to have a problem with any staff member on here, i actually don't really have a problem with Andrew but if he says something to me you can not expect me to just sit back and take what he has to say because i won't. I have the freedom to voice my own opinions on staff members as much as they have the right to voice their own personal opinions of me but i would rather they told me in private what problems they have with me rather than doing it infront of a bunch of people. We are all adults on here and sometimes i myself can get out of hand, i know that and i apologize for doing this sometimes but i am not the only one.

However, on top of that, let me say this. I do watch my staffs actions, and I have called them on inappropriate actions before. You may not see it, but thats because we handle those sort of things privately, because that is how they should be handled.

I have seen you do this also as you have dealt with some of my problems before and i thank you for that.

As for the irc chat, yeah, theres random things that go on, but if we really want to crack down on the rules, we can do so. But I am sure most of the chatters in there will be gone if we did that.

Most of the people who go in there to chat have gone already hun, i have gone in there for the last 2 weeks or so and hardly anyone was in there. I used to love going in there and chatting to everyone but it seems to have died recently, i think it is time for me to start getting people back in there

Everything said in my above comments is not to be taken personally and i don't want any comebacks from this, i am just voicing my own personal reasons and replying to Logics post, so please do not take them personally, yes even you Andrew
    :P

I have over the last few days been reading this thread and have kept my comments to myself but as i have seen in a recent post yet another member has jumped on the band wagon about a certain member of staff, this needs to be said and put into place before it gets out of hand...

This thread as i can see was made as i thread for idea's and suggestions for making GR a better place,I have read every post in the thread and there is constant sly remarks and bashing of a certain member of staff,if this continues to be the case members will be suspended......

Please lets try to keep this on topic and not use it as a tool to put members of the forum down for whatever reason.if you have a problem with a staff member do it via pm to either the member concerned or a admin member

we need to be making Gamerenders a Better place to come and to learn, remarks and comments like we have had in this thread is making Gamerenders what we as staff and members of the forum do not want.
