Yes, Creds are slowly becoming worthless, I'd say take 50% of creds away from everyone so that all the people will lose the same amount and wont b!tch as we all are :)

Make prem membership cheaper in the shop

Deduction of credits for posts under a certain amount of words (1 or 2 credits taken away) but it does not apply in the auction room.

I think that all users should get 90% of credits taken away.

    charge for auctions 25-50 credits
    charge for shop 50-100
    charge for SOTW 25
How about start fining people with those friggin stupid spam threads in general discusion. I just love those your favorite threads... take 50% of the credits from the person who starts the thread, you will get lots of credits out a circulation real fast. I know there was a fining system in place but I havent heard anyone bitching about being fined.

I agree every 2 months tax people like 5% or something of thier credits. And then charge for Shops and Auctions like take 100 creds for a shop and 50 creds for an auction.

how would lowering premium memberships help? If anythng, that'd make it worse.... allowing people to spend less, therefore having more credits.

Im assuming you're thinking that "more people will buy", but thats where money for the site comes from($5). People usually spend the $5 and buy the membership rather than spend the 2500 credits and buy it. IF you drop the price, you'd have to drop the cash price as well, and that would make it harder for the site to earn money to continue running.

taking a percentage away really isn't exactly fair either.

Say someone has 20 credits and you take 50% away. So what they lose 10 credits, easily made up by a few post.

However, then there is a member who has nearly 5,000 credits. They lose 2,500 credits, which is a lot worse than 10. You can't make up that many credits up very easily.

Thus I don't think any deduction would work considering taking like 500 credits (as a set fine for everyone) would have the same effect because people with 10 credits would still only lose 10.

The best idea is charging people for things, taking away credits won't work because there is no fair way to do it.

I think that charging people to create a shop is a good idea. Much like in real life you have to pay for a piece of land to build your shop in. You should have to pay to be able to create a shop here on GR.

All current active shops, could recieve some sort of discount for being open previously before the new rule, and all inactive shops would be closed down. Inactive being shops that havent recieved any purchases within a month.

Also, if a shop pays to open up, and then becomes inactive, they would then have to pay a larger fee in order to reopen their shop. That way it keeps them from just reopening the same shop every time. The fee getting larger every time that person trys to open a shop.

There could also be some sort of extra fee for having multiple shops because you know some people have their own shop, then people partner up with someone and open a second shop as well.

Perhaps we could get a coder *coughswatcough* to create some sort of tax form (going off the tax idea mentioned in a thread) where people fill in certain information and it automatically taxes them. That would make for an interesting ipb modification, wouldn't it?

As for charging on auctions, I am not sure I neccessarily agree with that. Especially if the auction doesn't sell, then the person is really kinda out credits. However, perhaps we could take a very small, and I do mean small percentage of credits out of the final profit of a finished auction. It would make items worth more as well I think, knowing that a small percentage of their profit would be deducted. It doesn't neccesarily have to be a set percentage, it could be a set amount of credits as well. That way if their item doesn't sell, they don't get charged, but if it does, a small amount is taken out. Thats how it works with real auction places anyways as well.

Perhaps not charging for every weekly entry of the SoTW, but a monthly fee? That way it makes entering worth it for every week during that month, which would encourage people to enter for the entire month since they spent credits on it, and it would also still help take some credits out of circulation, that way also you wouldn't have to really increase the prize amount either for the winning prizes.

Thats all my ideas for now. I don't agree with turning credits off. I think that there are alternative ways of pulling credits out of circulation. I will try and think of some shop ideas to add to the shop as well as I do like that idea.

Why exactly would you have to drop the cash price? You could make the prem membership lets say 1200 in the shop and more people would buy it, so it would take credits out of the economy. I did not think it all the way through though and forgot that is a way the website makes revenue.

edit: and for the first part, allowing people to spend less? How many prem memberships have they sold in the shop? I would say 10 max, it would be much easier for you to pay 700 to some guy just to buy you one.

charging for the SOTW would be a GREAT way to keep the SOTW under a legitimate competition AND a way of reducing credits.

At the current time, people basically throw something together in 5 seconds and puts it in SOTW just to be in the competition, this clutters the competition and wastes the judges time. Charing to enter the SOTW would make people actually TRY to make a good sig, it would make them obey the rules or they mine as well be fined on top of the SOTW entry fee for not paying attention to the rules as well as be disqualified.

Enforce fines more. I have accidently posted in the wrong forum and even reported myself to mods and the topic hasnt even been moved or me fined. I very specifically stated in all my reports to not forget to fine me for placing it in the wrong forum.

Besides that, I think dividing everyones credits by 5-10 would be a great idea. 10 would be perfect for now, but it would also encourage more spamming amongst people who cant post anything worth reading just to get 1 credit as its worth more.

    In the end I think:
Charge for store creation (have a mod okay all posts in the forum, i think thats an option in the ACP, the mod then checks their credit PMs and whoever sends the credits gets their post okayed, whoever doesnt remains invisible)
Charge for SOTW entry (this not only helps the SOTW, but also the credits, as said above)
    Divide everyones credits by 5-10.
Make it so you only get a credit on topic/poll creation, yet your post count increases in all forums (meaning you dont get a credit for simply posting, this would help spam and would help to provide help that actually helps in forums like the suggestion forum. Everywhere on this forum someone will say something like, "pm an admin" then 9 people will say the exact same thing just for 1 credit, like "pm and admin, im sure they can help you". Even if you didnt divide by 5-10 this, over about 1-3 months would increase each single credits amount).

I say start taking creds out of gr wherever possible i think charging on shops, more items etc would be the best solution because if you do the reduce credit idea your going to lose members quicker then you can breathe

credit system is what keeps the place alive... keeps it fresh and fun... you take peopls credits away or get rid of it intirely and it will be jsut like anyother forum and i garentee there is going to be a huge mass of people that go inactive cause they leave

With the bank system you can set it so everyone gets 1 Credit for everypost they have.

Ex. If you have 525 Posts, You will have 525 Credits.

I'm not sure if that's gonna help anything but yea .. Just my 2 Cents.
